  • Patent number: 8537270
Abstract: An imaging device includes an imaging element, a shutter mechanism, an actuator, a position detector, and a drive controller. The shutter mechanism is switchable between an open and a closed state to control the light incident on the imaging element. The actuator is configured to drive the shutter mechanism. The position detector is configured to detect the time between when the actuator begins storing the driving force and when the shutter mechanism switches from the closed state. The drive controller is configured to direct the actuator to begin storing the driving force while image data is being read from the imaging element, and to control the actuator so as to delay the time when the shutter mechanism is switched from the closed state if the position detector detects that the shutter mechanism is in the first state prior to completion of the image data being read from the imaging element.

  • Patent number: 7458738
Abstract: An image-taking apparatus is disclosed which allows preparatory driving for the next image-taking without degrading image quality and a reduction in time taken for one image-taking operation. The image-taking apparatus has a controller which controls an actuator which drives an operation mechanism which performs a first operation for allowing the image-taking with a photoelectrical conversion device and then a second operation (preparatory driving) for returning to the state before the first operation. The controller starts to drive the actuator for causing the operation mechanism to perform the second operation after the start of the travel of a rear curtain of a shutter and before the end thereof during accumulation of charge on the photoelectrical conversion device, or before reading of charge from the photoelectrical conversion device after the completion of exposure of the photoelectrical conversion device.

  • Patent number: 6871019
Abstract: A shutter abnormality detection apparatus for a camera includes a shutter including leading and trailing curtains which are shutter curtains electrically controlled to run. A curtain run detection unit detects a run state of at least one of the leading and trailing curtains. A curtain run time judgment unit judges a run time of the shutter curtains based on an output from the curtain run detection unit. An abnormality processing unit notifies an abnormality state of the shutter curtains, when it is judged as a result of judgment in the curtain run time judgment unit that the curtain run time is abnormal.

  • Patent number: 6336752
Abstract: A system and method are provided for exposing an imaging medium. The method uses a focal plane shutter system with two reversible motors controlled by a servo control processor. A belt connects the motors. One end of the belt is attached to a shaft of the first reversible motor. The other end of the belt is connected to a shaft of the second reversible motor. In the belt, there are a plurality of fixed width slits. The servo control processor selects one of the fixed width slits according to a desired exposure time setting. The two reversible motors move the belt during an imaging cycle. During the imaging cycle, the first motor winds the belt around its shaft. The second motor simultaneously unwinds the belt from around its shaft. The servo control processor controls the motors to accelerate the selected slit up to a constant imaging medium traversal speed. The constant traversal speed is also determined by the desired exposure time setting.

  • Publication number: 20010055072
Abstract: An electronic camera is provided that prevents deterioration of quality of an object image obtained by an image-pickup device due to dust adhered on an optical element. The electronic camera includes an ion generator for taking off the electric charges from the optical element, such as a low-pass filter, arranged in front of the image-pickup device. The ion generator is provided in the camera body and ionizes the air inside the camera body. The ionized air diffuses toward the low-pass filter and binds with the charge on the low-pass filter. Thus, the electric charge of the low-pass filter is taken off and the low-pass filter does not attract dust which cause the quality decrease of the object's image obtained by the image-pickup device.
