Retaining Means Patents (Class 396/651)
  • Patent number: 6030131
Abstract: A film developing process automatically conveys film to a film developing section. When a cartridge conveyed intermittently by a cartridge conveying device is conveyed to a first stop position, a tapered tongue drawing device is actuated to draw an end portion of a film strip out of the cartridge. At a second stop position, a cutting device and a punching device are operated to cut the tapered tongue and form coupling holes on the end portion of the film strip respectively. At a third stop position, a reinforcing label is applied to the end portion of the film strip by a label sticking device. At fourth and fifth stop positions, the end portions of the film strips are coupled with a leader sheet which has been conveyed and stopped at the other side of the fourth and fifth stop positions. The cartridges are then conveyed together with the leader sheet into the film developing section.

  • Patent number: 5579073
Abstract: A compact integrated system for film and print processing has chemical processing trays, sink, water filter and faucet, chemical storage, and drying screens integrated into a single multi-purpose unit. The wheeled chemical processing trays are vertically stacked and rolled in horizontal corrugations traversing the length of the sink. A print under development is directly transferred vertically between chemical processing trays across a print sponge with a print gripper. Each print is uniformly processed in a chemical processing tray by rolling the tray, ensuring uniform distribution of the processing chemical without manually agitating the print. The water rinse step of the print development process is accomplished in an oscillating wash bath wherein the water is continuously circulated over and between the prints being rinsed. Each of the processing chemical trays may be angled downward for emptying into a basin which can also provide a sink as well as safe recycling/disposal following print processing.

  • Patent number: 5572339
Abstract: A scanner housing encloses a rotatable cylindrical drum, the outer surface having opposing rims or hubs which support respective outer edges of a film strip or slide to be scanned. The edges of the film are releasably held flat against respective rims by means of bands contacting respective radially outer edges of the film to maintain them against the respective outer rim surfaces of the drum whereby the film rotates with the drum's rotation past a scanner assembly. The scanner assembly is disposed internally of the housing adjacent one outer side of the drum and includes a linear array scanning transducer. A light source is located adjacent an opposing outer side of the drum at a location substantially diametrically opposed from the scanner assembly. A focusing lens assembly is disposed internally of the drum between the light source and the scanner assembly. The film being carried on the outer circumference of the rotating drum as the drum rotates, passes adjacent the light source.
