Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an upper cover attached to a main body, an image forming part provided in the main body and configured to record an image on a sheet, an image reading part having a document press member, and a lock mechanism. The upper cover is configured to be pivotable on a support axis with respect to the main body. The image reading part is slidably mounted on the upper cover. The document press member is configured to open and close with respect to a housing of the image reading part in a direction similar to a direction in which the upper cover opens and closes. The lock mechanism is configured to prevent the document press member from opening over a slidable range of the image reading part when the upper cover is opened.

  • Patent number: 8086139
Abstract: A developing cartridge that maintains a pressing condition to press a developer carrier against the image carrier is described. The developing cartridge may include a coil spring that presses the developer carrier against the image carrier. The coil spring may include a handle that transmits a pressing force to the coil spring via the contacting member. By doing so, every time the developing cartridge is replaced, a new coil spring and handle can be provided for the color laser printer with the developing cartridge attached. Therefore, a constant pressure by the coil spring can be continuously maintained. Thus, a preferable pressure condition of the developer carrier against the image carrier can be continuously maintained.

Abstract: In an apparatus including a fixing device configured to be rotated by receiving a driving force from a main body of the apparatus and a drawer configured to draw out of the main body while holding the fixing device, a storage position of the drawer is adjusted to adjust an alignment between a transfer unit and a fixing nip. With the alignment so adjusted, meshing of gears that transmit force to rotate a fixing roller from a driving source of the main body of the apparatus may deteriorate, thus causing a rotational unevenness of the fixing roller. Therefore, an alignment unit configured to adjust an alignment is provided between a fixing support member configured to support a fixing unit and a fixing driving unit driving the fixing unit and a transfer support member configured to support a support member supporting the fixing support member.
