Patent number: 11340535Abstract: A system and method for creating a fountain solution pattern for digital imaging, can include a charge image bearing surface bearing a charge image, an array of insulated channels, wherein a fountain solution can enter and fills the array of insulated channels by capillary action to a ledge region of the insulated channels in the array of insulated channels, and a scorotron that charges a surface of the fountain solution in the array of insulated channels. The array of insulated channels can be moved into proximity with the charge image on the charge image bearing surface of a digital printer, such that a fountain solution pattern can be developed on the charge image bearing surface with a measured amount of the fountain solution.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2021Date of Patent: May 24, 2022Assignee: Palo Alto Research Center IncorporatedInventors: David K. Patent number: 6766131Abstract: A liquid electrophotographic developing apparatus including a developing unit with an elongated opening disposed adjacent to a photoreceptor and an air duct provided around the elongated opening. The air flow in the air duct has a predetermined air pressure to hold a liquid developer within a space substantially between the developing unit and the image-bearing surface while permitting toner particles in the liquid developer deposited on the image-bearing surface to be retained by the image—bearing surface and volatile solvent to be vaporized.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2000Date of Patent: July 20, 2004Assignee: Aetas Technology IncorporatedInventors: Yuji Hiraoka, Michio Matsumoto, Takeo Endo

Toner recycle control system of electrophotographing device using viscous liquid developing solution
Patent number: 6687477Abstract: The present invention provides a toner recycling control system which stably feeds a liquid developer of an appropriate concentration to a liquid developing apparatus employing a high-viscosity liquid developer; appropriately adjusts the concentration of residual developer collected after development and after transfer; and feeds the adjusted developer to the developing apparatus. The toner recycling control system collects a post-development residual developer from a developer-bearing body and a post-transfer residual developer from an image-bearing body; performs developer concentration adjustment to yield an adjusted developer; and feeds the adjusted developer back to the developer-bearing body.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2003Date of Patent: February 3, 2004Assignee: PFU LimitedInventors: Motoharu Ichida, Satoshii Moriguchi, Shigeki Uesugi, Yoshiaki Kawamoto, Seiichi Takeda, Tadasuke Yoshida, Yoshiaki Fujimoto, Jiyun Du, Masanobu Hongo, Yasuhiko Kishimoto, Hitoshi Terashima, Satoru Moto, Masanari Takabatake, Hideaki Shibata, Tatsuo Nozaki, Yutaka Nakashima, Tadashi Nishikawa, Akihiko Inamoto, Satoshi Miyamoto -
Patent number: 6256460Abstract: An automatic developing apparatus is provided with a developing tank, a reserve tank, a pump, a piping which connects the reserve tank and the pump and whose one end is disposed above the developing tank, a first electrode provided in the piping, a second electrode provided within the developing tank, and a sensor which is electrically connected to the first electrode and the second electrode.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2000Date of Patent: July 3, 2001Assignee: Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd.Inventors: Ryouei Nozawa, Akira Sugiyama

Patent number: 5960231Abstract: A concentrate sense window which defines a variable thickness flow path area is provided for sensing the concentration levels of inks having varying levels of luminance. Sensor window panels are configured in relationship to each other such that an area defined therebetween varies from a first area to a second area. An emitter/detector pair are located on opposite sides of the sensor window. The emitter transmits a signal through the sensor area and at least part of the signal is sensed by the detector. The emitter/detector pair are designed so as to be movable along the surface of the sensor window whereby ink of varying illuminance may be sensed without the need of separate windows or multiple emitter/detector pairs.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 1998Date of Patent: September 28, 1999Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventor: Jose Natividad Martinez

Patent number: 5926668Abstract: A wet electrographic printer has (1) a reservoir for supplying a developer obtained by mixing a liquid carrier with an ink to a developing unit, (2) a carrier cartridge for supplying the liquid carrier to the reservoir, (3) an ink cartridge for supplying the ink to the reservoir, and (4) a process tank for receiving the processor from the reservoir. The developer supply method includes the steps of supplying the liquid carrier and the ink to the reservoir to fill the reservoir to a maximum level with developer having an optimum concentration, and determining whether the concentration and level of the developer in the reservoir is less than or equal to a minimum concentration and a minimum level, respectively. If the concentration of the developer is less than or equal to the minimum concentration and the level is higher than the minimum level, the developer is drained from the reservoir to the process tank until the level of the developer falls to the minimum level.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 1998Date of Patent: July 20, 1999Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventor: Hyong-gu Lee
