  • Patent number: 12001159
Abstract: A processor causes a printing portion to execute, when first conveying processing is executed, test print processing for executing processing of forming a plurality of test toner images on a sheet under a print condition that differs for each of the plurality of test toner images. The processor acquires a plurality of first sensing densities when the first conveying processing is executed. The processor causes the printing portion to execute the test print processing when second conveying processing is executed. The processor acquires a plurality of second sensing densities when the second conveying processing is executed. The processor compares the plurality of first sensing densities and the plurality of second sensing densities to adjust the print condition in the print processing when the second conveying processing is executed.

  • Patent number: 11789383
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of image bearers, a plurality of rotation reference position detectors, and circuitry. Each of the plurality of rotation reference position detectors faces a corresponding image bearer of the plurality of image bearers to detect a rotation reference position of the corresponding image bearer. The circuitry performs, before an operation of rotating the plurality of image bearers, alignment control based on a result of detection performed by the plurality of rotation reference position detectors. The alignment control is control of driving of the plurality of image bearers to acquire a given relationship between the respective rotation reference positions of the plurality of image bearers. The circuitry determines whether to perform the alignment control based on whether the operation of rotating the plurality of image bearers is a function maintenance related operation.

The third transport section selectively applies propelling forces in a frontward direction and a backward direction to a sheet in the switchback transport path through the first and second transport members. The transport control section controls operations of the first, second, and third transport sections. The transport control section detaches the first and second transport members from each other in a time period when no sheet is being transported by the third transport section.

Abstract: An imaging system includes a plurality of imaging engines each comprising a photoreceptor belt having a belt seam. A sensor determines a relative position of a first photoreceptor belt of a first one of the imaging engines relative to a second photoreceptor belt seam of a second one of the imaging engines. A controller controls a motor speed of one or more motors driving the photoreceptor belts, wherein an output of the sensor comprises a basis for adjustment of the motor by the controller for relative synchronizing of the first and second belts to avoid skipping pitches in one of the imaging engines due to relative belt seam positions.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus which has means for permitting transfer members to be impressed with respective optimal transfer voltages without increasing the manufacturing cost. In the image forming apparatus, a transfer belt is driven to rotate, and a plural number of photosensitive drums, which bear toner images, are arranged side by side in the rotating direction of the transfer belt. A plural number of transfer members are located opposite from the respective photosensitive drums via the transfer belt. The transfer members charge the transfer belt with a polarity opposite to the polarity of the toner. The gap in the rotating direction of the transfer belt between the photosensitive drum and the transfer member in the most upstream transfer section is the largest, and the gap in the rotating direction of the transfer belt between the photosensitive drum and the transfer member in the most downstream transfer section is the smallest.

Abstract: A method for achieving accurate page margins on a media and a duplex imaging apparatus thereof. The method comprises: detecting a leading edge position by an edge sensor and a first left-to-right position of the media by an alignment sensor in a first imaging path; imaging a first side of the media in a print zone of the duplex imaging apparatus; removing the media from the print zone and disposing the media in a second imaging path; detecting a leading edge position by the edge sensor and a second left-to-right position of the media by the alignment sensor; determining a carrier reset distance by calculating a difference between first and second left-to-right positions, and shifting a print image by a distance substantially equal to the carrier reset distance thereby achieving accurate page margins for imaging a second side of the media with the print image. In another embodiment, the first left-to-right position can be determined by feeding the media into a preset first left-to-right position.

The first and second toner image forming sections include first and second image carriers and first and second intermediate transfer members, respectively. The color toner images are formed on the image carrier and then transferred onto the intermediate transfer member to form a composite color toner image on the intermediate transfer member. In a first mode, the first and second toner image forming sections form both the composite dark and light color toner images on the recording material. In a second mode, the second intermediate transfer member is moved out of contact with the transfer unit and the second image carrier and the second intermediate transfer member are not operated, so that only the first toner image forming section forms the composite dark color toner image on the recording material.

  • Patent number: 7395004
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an executing portion, which executes a first removing sequence and a second removing sequence when removing a toner image borne on an intermediate transfer member. The first removing sequence passes the toner image through a primary transfer portion, which is applied with a voltage having a same polarity as the predetermined polarity, and thereafter removing the toner image by the removing portion which forms a cleaning electric field. The second removing sequence removes the toner image by the removing portion, which forms the cleaning electric field, without passing the toner image through the primary transfer portion. A selecting portion means selects between the first removing sequence and the second removing sequence in accordance with a toner amount per unit area of the toner image borne on the intermediate transfer member at a stoppage of the intermediate transfer member.
