A cleaning section in the image forming apparatus has a cleaning member in the shape of a board, which contacts the surface of the charging roller through it's a first surface, and a fixing member, which supports the cleaning member at least at an upstream side of a contact position between the charging roller and the cleaning member with respect to the rotation direction of the charging roller. The fixing member is formed so as to not contact the cleaning member in an area of a second surface which is opposite to the contact part of the charging roller and the cleaning member.
