    Abstract: A fixing device fixes a toner image to a paper sheet, and the fixing device includes: a pressure roller; and a heating member, wherein the heating member includes: a pressure pad; a heating roller including a heater; and a fixing belt, the fixing device further includes a drive mechanism that controls rotation of the pressure roller and the heating roller, the fixing belt is driven while sliding on a surface of the pressure pad, when the heating roller rotates, and the drive mechanism applies pressure to the paper sheet, fixes the toner image to the paper sheet, switches between a contact state in which the pressure roller and the fixing belt are in contact with each other, and a separated state in which the pressure roller and the fixing belt are separated from each other, and switches to the contact state when a predetermined condition is satisfied.
