Abstract: An electrophotographic development system preventive of a rolling of paper on a photosensitive drum includes a charging roller for charging the surface of the photosensitive drum with high voltage by a rotation with the photosensitive drum, an exposure unit for producing an electrostatic latent image on the charged part of the photosensitive drum, a developing roller having a thin and uniform toner layer through which the latent image on the photosensitive drum passes to be developed into a visible image, and a transfer roller for transferring the image on a paper, whereby to compulsorily separate the paper rolling up the photosensitive drum.
Abstract: An image-forming apparatus is disclosed. Unstably charged toner contained in a developer is attached to the surface of an image carrier by a developing sleeve for use in a developer unit. This toner is allowed to pass through the transfer position while keeping from contacting a transfer material. The toner is then uniformly charged by a pre-transfer charger or a separating charger to the same polarity as the developed normal toner. This increases an adhesion force of the toner to the surface of the image carrier, thereby preventing its attachment to a separating claw.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus which comprises an image bearing member for bearing a toner image, a transfer charger for transferring the toner image from the image bearing member to a transfer material, and an electricity removing member for removing electricity from the transfer material to separate the transfer material from the image bearing member, and wherein, when the electricity is removed from the transfer material by the electricity removing member, a potential level applied to the electricity removing member is selected so that the potential level at end portions of the transfer material becomes greater than the potential level at a central portion of the transfer material along a transfer material shifting direction, thereby improving separation of the transfer material from the image bearing member.
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrying body on which a toner image is created. A sheet carrying/transporting rotational body adsorbs a recording sheet to which the toner image on the image carrying body is transferred, and transports the sheet. The recording sheet is detached after transfer from the sheet carrying/transporting rotating body, and an assisting device thrusts against the non-image area of the recording sheet to limit its detachment from the sheet carrying/transporting rotating body. The image forming device can prevent transportation failure and image smudging that is otherwise generated when a thick sheet provided with a curl before it is adsorbed to a sheet carrying/transporting rotational body is detached in the curved state from the rotational body and transported to a fusing means.
Abstract: A mechanism for facilitating removal of a receiver member from intimate contact with an intermediate image transfer member of a reproduction apparatus having a primary image forming member, an intermediate image transfer member including a compliant outer surface, and a mechanism for electrostatically transferring a marking particle image formed on the primary image forming member from the primary image forming member to the intermediate image transfer member and, thereafter, to a receiver member brought into intimate contact with the intermediate image transfer member. The removal facilitating mechanism includes a member, downstream of the transfer means, in substantial pressure contact with the intermediate image transfer member to compress the outer surface of the intermediate image transfer member, and pinch a receiver member off the intermediate image transfer member.

Abstract: A separating pawl is attached to a fixed portion around a rotatable member, and a separating end of the separating pawl extends from a fixed end of the separating pawl onto a circumferential surface of the rotatable member. A portion between the separating end and the fixed end of the separating pawl forms a convex arch in the same direction as that of the rotatable member. A pressing plate is attached to the fixed portion around the rotatable member, and is brought in contact with the convex side of the separating pawl so that the separating end of the separating pawl comes in contact with the rotatable member to press the separating pawl for performing a sheet separating operation.
Abstract: A sheet stripping device for stripping copy sheets from an arcuate imaging surface, including a support element and an electrically conductive stripping element coupled to an electrically biasing source. An electrical bias is applied to the stripping elements or fingers to suppress the build-up of toner on the stripping element so that large concentrations of toner are eliminated and minimal residue is left on the fingers as a thin film for preventing background contamination of the copy sheet.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus wherein a plurality of toner images having different colors from each other are successively formed on an image carrier, and the plurality of toner images formed on the image carrier are transferred to a transfer member carried on a transfer member carrier in such a condition that the plural toner images are successively overlapped with each other to thereby form an image, characterized in that the image forming apparatus comprises a pawl-shaped stripping member for stripping the transfer member from the transfer member carrier while being made in contact with a surface of the transfer member carrier at a predetermined timing; a volume electric resistance value of at least a portion of the pawl-shaped stripping member, which is made in contact with the transfer member, is selected to be greater than, or equal to 10 .OMEGA..cm, and smaller than, or equal to 10.sup.7 .OMEGA..cm; otherwise a surface electric resistance value thereof is selected to be greater than, or equal to 10 .
Abstract: A prefuser vacuum transport apparatus that increases the latitude of sheet acquisition includes at least one perforated belt entrained around a vacuum plenum to provide a limited drive force on sheets being driven by the vacuum transport apparatus. The vacuum plenum includes a vacuum port surface having a profile that is contoured to follow the profile of the stiffest sheet to be transported with the maximum specified curl. The belt follows the port surface contour.
Abstract: A paper folding member and a jam sensor are disposed downstream of the position at which a transfer drum confronts an image carrying body and in proximity to the transfer drum. The paper folding member is a platelike member substantially assuming a right-angled triangle, and has an edge that projects more to the upstream side at a position closer to the transfer drum pulling side. When a paper jam occurs, engagement between gears for transmitting a driving force from the image carrying body to the transfer drum is released, so that the transfer drum becomes freely rotatable in its normal rotational direction. When the transfer drum is pulled, a recording sheet is gradually taken out of a cleaning device first from its portion on the side opposite to the transfer drum pulling side, and is inserted between the paper folding member and the transfer drum as the transfer drum is rotated. As a result, the recording sheet can be taken out of the apparatus without getting separated from the transfer drum.
