Abstract: Light scanning devices forming electrostatic latent images on photosensitive bodies are disposed so as to correspond respectively to the plurality of photosensitive bodies which correspond to a plurality of colors, respectively. Electrooptical elements are disposed on light paths of light beams. The electrostatic latent images formed on the respective photosensitive bodies 1 are respectively developed by developing means. Developed electrostatic latent images are respectively superposed together and transferred onto a sheet, so that a color image is formed. Images-for-detecting-offset-amounts, which are formed on a conveying body by the light scanning devices, are detected, and offset amounts of images of the respective colors are detected. Based on detected offset amounts, voltages are applied to the respective electrooptical elements such that the offset amounts become values of a predetermined range.
Abstract: The present invention aims to improve image quality in an image forming apparatus in which plural color toner images are formed on a photosensitive member and the toner images are collectively transferred onto a transfer material, and provides such an image forming apparatus that includes a first charge member for charging the photosensitive member, a digital optical system for exposing image information on the photosensitive member, a first developing device for inversion-developing a first latent image formed on the photosensitive member with first toner, a second charge member for charging the photosensitive member developed by the first developing member, a second developing member for developing a second latent image formed on the photosensitive member by exposing second image information onto the charged photosensitive member, with second toner, and a transfer means for collectively transferring first and second toner images formed on the photosensitive member onto a transfer material, and wherein an ex
Abstract: A method and apparatus for locating and cutting individual images from a web containing a plurality of images, the web having a magnetic media capable of retaining magnetically recorded data. The apparatus comprising a reader for reading magnetically recorded data contained on the magnetic media which provides information relating to the location of the images thereon; and a mechanism responsive to the information read by the reader and for performing an operation to the web in accordance with the information.
Abstract: A Recharge-Expose-and-Develop Image on Image color electrophotographic printing system in which the photoreceptor is recharged between development of one color of toner image and the subsequent exposure for a second color latent image by first being sprayed with opposite sign ions to reduce the photoreceptor potential and then being charged with correct sign ions to recharge the photoreceptor to a desired potential.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for minimizing image banding and for registering multiple image planes of a single image on a receptor drum in electrographic systems. The system for registering multiple image planes of a single image in an electrographic system includes a receptor drum capable of capturing two or more overlaying image planes, an exposure device for forming overlaying image planes on the receptor drum, and at least one developer station transferring a developer to the receptor drum corresponding to each of the overlaying image planes. A measuring device is provided for measuring the rotational position of the receptor drum. A drive mechanism is provided for controlling a motor coupled to the receptor drum by at least one drive belt. A closed loop positioning system is coupled to the measuring device and the drive mechanism. The closed loop positioning system is capable of modulating the angular velocity of the receptor drum to achieve image plane registration of the two or more image planes.

Abstract: A multistation color electrophotographic printer having an erase lamp located opposed to or before the last physical developer housing, but after the first physical developer housing.
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus wherein plural developing devices 3 have alternating electric field applying mechanisms 4, the alternating electric field applying mechanisms 4 have alternating electric field changing mechanisms 7 for reducing the degree of the action of the alternating electric field on at least one of the developing devices 3 which are later in development order, to a level which is lower than that in the preceding step. As required, at least one of the transferring devices 5 which are later in transfer order has a transfer force changing mechanism 8 for increasing the force of transfer to a transfer medium 6 applied to a color-component toner image on an image carrier 1, to a level which is higher than that in the preceding step. Furthermore, an operation condition judging mechanism 9 may judge whether preset transfer failure conditions are satisfied or not, or environmental conditions may be considered by an environmental condition adjusting device 10.
Abstract: A color REaD IOI system in which the photoreceptor is DC only recharged between the development of the first toner layer and the subsequent exposure and development of the following toner layer. To assist the DC only recharge the photoreceptor and the first toner layer are beneficially erased prior to recharge. Beneficially, the photoreceptor is subsequent recharged prior to exposures for the other toner layers using a charging scheme that includes an AC charging device.
Abstract: A color REaD IOI system in which a light source illuminates the photoreceptor so as to erase that photoreceptor after the development of a first toner followed by a high slope AC corona system which recharges both the photoreceptor and first developed toner before exposure and development of the next color image.

Abstract: An image formation method for forming an image of a plurality of colors through a charging step, an image exposing step, a developing step and a transferring step, wherein the image exposing step is made up of a first image exposing step and a second image exposing step, the developing step of at least one color is carried out after the first image exposing step, and in the subsequent second image exposing step, the toner image area formed by the developing step is exposed and charge latent images for forming toner images of the rest of the colors are formed while a potential of the toner image area is selectively shifted.
Abstract: In a color image forming apparatus, plural different colored toner images are sequentially formed on an image forming body by repeating respective operations of plural chargers, plural imagewise exposure devices and plural developing devices so that a superimposed color image is formed on the image forming body. The color image forming apparatus further includes a detector provided inside and facing the image forming body, downstream of a developing device located in a most downstream position among the plural developing devices, for detecting the superimposed color image on the image forming body.
Abstract: A color image forming apparatus is provided with a number of image stations respectively corresponding to different color components and adapted to form images of respectively corresponding color components in succession and in superposed manner on a recording medium transported through the a number of image stations. The apparatus has memories for storing image data of respective color components to be supplied to the image stations, detectors for detecting aberration in registration of the images of respective color components formed by the image stations, and a controller for controlling the write-in positions of the image data of respective color components into the memories, based on the output of the detector.
