  • Patent number: 11811978
Abstract: An image forming apparatus according to an embodiment includes a forming unit, an adjusting unit, a detecting unit, a storage unit and a control unit. The forming unit forms an image with respect to a medium. The adjusting unit adjusts an operating condition of the forming unit when an image is formed. The detecting unit detects approach of an operator toward the image forming apparatus. The storage unit stores setting data that indicates validity or invalidity of the detecting unit. The control unit operates, while the setting data indicates the invalidity, the adjusting unit when a first execution condition determined in advance is satisfied, and operates, while the setting data indicates the validity, the adjusting unit when the approach of the operator is not detected by the detecting unit after a second execution condition is satisfied, the second execution condition being determined in advance so as to be satisfied earlier than the first execution condition.

While, changes in temperature conditions cause the oscillation frequency of the second oscillation circuit to change in the same way as the oscillation frequency of the first oscillation circuit. Therefore, utilizing a difference between the oscillation frequencies of the first and second oscillation circuits makes it possible to cancel out changes in the temperature conditions so that a value corresponding to only the magnetic permeability of the two-component developer can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 8311423
Abstract: An image forming apparatus that includes a latent image carrier, a latent image forming unit, a developing unit, a toner supplier, a toner concentration detector, a prediction calculator, and a toner supply controller. The toner supplier includes a single driving source and supplies toner to a two-component developer at a predetermined supply position by driving a toner supply member with the driving source. The toner concentration detector detects a toner concentration in the developer at a predetermined detection position located upstream of the supply position. The prediction calculator predicts changes in the toner concentration in the developer over time at a prediction position located at the supply position or downstream of the supply position and upstream of a developer feed position to the developer carrier when toner is not supplied. The toner supply controller adjusts an amount of the toner supplied based on the prediction.

  • Patent number: 8155540
Abstract: A method and system includes updating an accumulated dispense value from within a toner dispense actuation loop and adjusting the accumulated dispense value by receiving dispense values from at least one control loop element that operates asynchronously from the toner dispense actuation loop. A temporary accumulated dispense value is stored when it is greater than or equal to a predetermined dispense saturation upper limit, or is less than or equal to a predetermined dispense saturation lower limit. An adjusted accumulated dispense value is calculated by subtracting the accumulated dispense value from the temporary accumulated dispense value and multiplying the difference by a predetermined optimized limit gain. A new accumulated dispense value is calculated by adding the adjusted accumulated dispense value to the accumulated dispense value. A toner dispense motor is activated for a time period equal to the on time value, and the on time value is subtracted from the new accumulator value.
