Abstract: An image forming system includes an image forming apparatus having an apparatus main body, a sheet feeding cassette, a manual bypass tray, an opening/closing detection part and a sheet feeding source setting part. The apparatus main body has an input part to which a printing instruction is input. The manual bypass tray is displaced into an open posture and into a close posture. The sheet feeding source setting part sets the sheet feeding cassette or the manual bypass tray as a sheet feeding source. When the opening/closing detection part detects that the manual bypass tray is displaced from the close posture to the open posture and the printing instruction is input to the input part, regardless of the sheet feeding source input to the input part, the sheet feeding source setting part sets the manual bypass tray as the sheet feeding source.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus that is capable of calculating an appropriate replacement guide value of a part even in a case where the image processing apparatus operates under different operating modes. The image processing apparatus is capable of operating in a plurality of operating modes of different image forming speeds and has a replacement guide default value showing a guide for replacement of a part for each of the operating modes. A degree of wear of the part for each of the operating modes is calculated based on the replacement guide default value. The calculated degree of wear is, in a case where the operating mode is changed, converted to a degree of wear for the operating mode after the change, and a replacement guide value of the part in the operating mode is calculated after the change based on the converted degree of wear.

A sheet subjected to post-processing by the post-processing unit is output to the first sheet stack portion from the same direction as a sheet not subjected to post-processing by the post-processing unit.

  • Patent number: 8582987
Abstract: In a printing device, the conveying mechanism has a first path from a accommodating unit to the printing position and a second path that conveys the sheet that has once passed through the printing position to the printing position in an inverted state. The controller controls the conveying mechanism to perform an automatic duplex print. Printing on the one side is executed by using the first path and printing on the another side is executed by using the second path. The another side printing error disables printing of an image, by using the second path, on the another side of the sheet, whose one side has already been printed. When the another side printing error occurs, the controller controls the conveying mechanism to convey, through the first path, a sheet and controlling the printing unit to print the image on the sheet based on the set of image data to be printed on the another side.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus may include a main body, an endless belt, and a drum unit. The drum unit may support a black photosensitive drum and color photosensitive drums in a mounting direction. The black photosensitive drum may include a first axis in an axial direction perpendicular to the mounting direction. Each color photosensitive drum may have a second axis extending parallel to the axial direction. The black photosensitive drum may be disposed at a position nearest to a first end of the drum unit. A second end of the drum unit may be pivotable about the first axis between initial and pivot positions. The photosensitive drums contact the endless belt when the drum unit is in the initial position. The black photosensitive drum contacts the endless belt and the color photosensitive drums are separated from the endless belt when the drum unit is in the pivot position.

  • Patent number: 8472047
Abstract: Under a contention between a copy job and a print job, it is possible that a general user misunderstands that the payment he has made for the copy job is mistakenly used on the print job requested by another user. One solution to avoid such undesirable possibility is to display information indicating that the billing process is correctly done. Yet, the general user may fail to notice the display. In view of this, a billing and printing system prevents occurrence of job contention as long as the balance of payment made by a general user remains. An MFP included in the system does not accept any print job if a balance of received payment remains, and does not accept any payment if there is a queued print job.
