Abstract: A urine collection device for enabling urination while driving includes a tube that is flexible, a bag, and a pipe. The bag is selectively couplable to a first endpoint of the tube. The pipe is selectively couplable by a first end to a second endpoint of the tube so that the pipe is in fluidic communication with the bag. A second end of the pipe is configured to insert a penis of a user to position the pipe around the penis, thus enabling the user to urinate into the pipe. The tube is configured to allow flow of urine from the pipe to the bag.

Abstract: A method of processing a fecal sample from a human subject comprising removing a portion of a collected fecal sample and adding the removed portion of the sample to a buffer that prevents denaturation or degradation of blood proteins found in the sample, and detecting the presence of human blood in the removed portion of the fecal sample. The method further comprises stabilizing the remaining portion of the fecal sample.

Abstract: A body waste collection system for bedridden or chair-bound patients. A waste entry port may interface with a resting surface of the bed or chair by way of a funnel that terminates at the resting surface. A collection unit may be fluidly coupled to the waste entry port by a flexible conduit system. The collection unit may include a temperature gauge, a volume measure, a sample port, and an odor removal port. Once the bedridden or chair-bound patient has assumed a release position along the resting surface defined by the waste entry port, no other lifting or movement of the patient is needed to collect their body waste in the collection unit, which can utilize the integrated hardware.

Abstract: A toilet for measuring excreta is disclosed. The toilet is adapted to measure the amount of excreta received by the bowl and then the flush water. A pressure sensor is configured to monitor the pressure exerted by the flush water and any excreta contained therein. Data from monitoring the pressure of the flush water and excreta therein is used to determine the weight or volume of the excreta received by the bowl. This toilet can provide data which may be used to analyze how the volume of flush water changed due to excreta deposit. A volume change feature can be associated with a urination event and the data associated with the event can be used to determine a urine characteristic of the event.

When used by children of different heights, the pan seat has an adjustable height to provide a more convenient and suitable urinal for children, while the urinal pan and the urinal pan opening are detachably connected, so that the urinal pan can be disassembled to pour out the urine after a child finishes urinating.

When in use, the inlet opening is placed between the labia, pressed around the urethral opening to form a leak proof seal which creates a passage for urine excretion beyond the wearer's clothing. This ensures all urine is guided, via the urethral cup and connected tubing, to the location desired for disposal. The vulva, upon completion of urination, will not need to be dried.

The apparatus includes a toilet bowel with a reservoir and a urine collection receptacle that is a flexible heat sealable plastic bag in an enclosure mounted exterior to the reservoir. The receptacle can be rotated into the toilet reservoir to collect urine and removed therefrom by rotating it back into the enclosure. The opening to the bag is then heat sealed to produce a urine sample packet. The receptacle may be automatically divided into a plurality of urine sample packets by heat sealing the bag at several locations along its length and then cutting the bag at the appropriate heat sealed locations. Each packet is then printed with patient indicia. The sample packets then pass through an opening in the enclosure for removal and subsequent analysis. An electrical activation interface is provided to control the process.

Abstract: The invention provides a flush free drain trap system. The trap of the invention may be used in any trap system intended to block a back flow of odors from the waste line. A sealant liquid floats on top of the waste liquid in the trap to block odors. The trap uses one passageway to pass liquids to the sewer line, similarly to a conventional drain system, for preventing overflow and allowing cleaning. A second passageway allows the trap to dispose of small amounts of the waste liquid though an opening and a valve operated by the buoyancy caused by the accumulation of waste liquid in the trap. In normal use, waste liquid is passed to the sewer line without loss of sealant liquid. Furthermore, the performance of the trap is not affected by the evaporation of the waste liquid when the trap is unused.
