  • Patent number: 5749103
Abstract: A substantially annular toilet seat having a lifting surface which remains sanitary throughout a range of toilet seat positions between a toilet bowl and a toilet tank. The seat has a hinged end and an outer perimeter wall. The outer perimeter wall has a cavity therein which has a smooth inner surface and an open end facing outwardly from the toilet bowl. The seat has a hinging means connecting the hinged end the seat to the toilet bowl such that a user placing a finger in the cavity and pressing against the smooth inner surface may pivot the annular seat about the hinging means. This may be done without contamination of the finger because the cavity is shielded from urine splash and bacteria laden toilet water spraying outward from the toilet bowl when the toilet bowl is flushed. Alternatively, the toilet seat has a protrusion extending outwardly from the outer perimeter wall and having the cavity therein. The smooth inner surface of the cavity gradually converges from the open end to a closed end.

  • Patent number: 5666673
Abstract: A toilet seat structure having a support framework for placement atop a conventional toilet bowl. A cradle assembly presents a pair of triangularly-shaped side panels which pivotally and tangentially engage laterally spaced-apart rails extending along each side of the toilet bowl. Spanning the side panels are a front lift bar and a conventional toilet seat. User induced pressure on the lift bar positions the lift bar at the front of the bowl with the seat being presented at an angled position to allow user entry. Downward pressure on the seat causes the toilet seat to assume a functional horizontal position above the toilet bowl. Concurrently, the lift bar swings upwardly so as to draw the legs of the seated user towards the user's torso. At this position the user is in an enhanced "squatting" position which is said to be effective for bowel movement. Alternative embodiments of the cradle assembly, associated rails, side arms and support framework are shown.

  • Patent number: 5642531
Abstract: A method of warming a toilet seat is described. Firstly, provide a toilet having a toilet seat and a pivotally mounted toilet seat cover. The toilet seat cover has a lower surface and a peripheral edge. The toilet seat cover is pivotally movable between a substantially vertical raised position and a substantially horizontal lowered position in which the lower surface of the toilet seat cover overlies the toilet seat. Secondly, secure a string of low voltage lights to the lower surface of the toilet seat cover adjacent the peripheral edge. Thirdly, position the toilet seat cover in a pivotal position parallel to the toilet seat when the toilet seat is not in use. Heat generated by the low voltage lights in proximity to the toilet seat warms the toilet seat in preparation for use.

  • Patent number: 5457824
Abstract: An easily removable and attachable toilet seat connector and method is disclosed herein. The device of the present invention comprises a threaded bolt and a nut which is threadable thereto. The threaded bolt has an axially extending aperture. A pin fits within the axially extending aperture of the threaded bolt. The radius of the pin is expandable, thereby securing the pin to a toilet seat mounting bracket, the mounting bracket having a bracket hole extending therethrough to accept the pin. The pin also has a threaded aperture axially extending therein, and a screw is threadable with the threaded aperture of the pin to provide radial expansion of the pin. The method for attaching a toilet seat to a toilet bowl basin first comprises inserting the threaded bolt into a toilet bowl basin hole and threading a nut to said threaded bolt. Thereafter, the radially expandable pin is inserted into a bracket hole of a toilet seat mounting bracket. The radius of the pin is expanded to secure the pin to the toilet seat.

  • Patent number: 5435016
Abstract: A toilet flush handle cover or guard is attachable to the bottom of a toilet seat and provides cover for the flush handle of a conventional toilet when the seat is raised to an upright position. The cover is formed to require a male user of the toilet to lower the seat to access the flush handle and flush the toilet after use, thereby providing considerate positioning of the seat of the toilet in the lowered position for subsequent female users. The flush handle cover may be formed in various configurations in order to provide proper coverage for various flush handles as desired, or alternatively may be formed as a single, integral unit with the toilet seat to extend therefrom. The present handle cover is adapted to remain clear of the upper surface of the seat and of any portion of the lid or tank, thus insuring comfort for a user of the toilet.

Basically, the toilet includes a bowl, a seat partially covering the bowl opening and a lid movable between a raised position exposing the seat and a lower position covering the seat and sealing the bowl. When the lid is raised, an air extraction system removes air and odors from the bowl. After use, the lid is either manually or automatically closed, initiating a high or low flush. When left to close automatically a low flush only is initiated. In a low flush, water is directed under pressure through two rotating spray jets against the bowl interior, then is removed along with any toilet contents by the rotating jets action and the macerator which reduces solids to small particles. Heated air is then directed into the bowl to dry the bowl. In a high flush, an additional spray jet cleans the seat and a larger quantity (typically 1/3 additional) of water is used.

  • Patent number: 4893360
Abstract: An apparatus for positively positioning a seat on the rim of a toilet bowl to prevent the seat from accidently sliding off of the rim is disclosed. A first plurality of positioning members is attached to the upper surface of the rim, while a second plurality of positioning members is attached to the lower surface of the seat. The first and second pluralities of positioning members are formed having complementary male and female shapes and are located such that they engage one another when the seat is lowered onto the rim. When so engaged, the positioning members prevent the seat from sliding laterally relative to the rim. The male positioning members are preferably formed having the shape of a truncated cone, while the female positioning members are preferably formed having a complementary shaped recess. Adhesive tape may be used to attach the positioning members to the seat and the rim.

  • Patent number: 4790036
Abstract: A toilet seat (27) is provided with a slide housing (26) comprising nozzles for spraying and/or applying water and/or disinfecting liquid. It comprises at least one wiper for drying the surface of the seat (27). The slide housing (26) is placed over a segment of the seat (27), which then, while being sprayed by the nozzles, is driven in the circumferential direction by at least one electric motor. The entire operation is started up manually by actuating the lever (2) of the flushing water cistern (1), and subsequently is controlled by the control electronics (27) until the cleaning of the seat (27) has been completed. The energy is obtained by a turbine (11), which is mechanically connected to a low-voltage direct-current generator (13), and is driven by the water filling the flushing water cistern (11). The actual flushing water, therefore, flows at the normal kinetic energy into the toilet; the hydraulic resistance of the turbine (11) is not switched on while the flushing water flows into the toilet bowl.
