  • Patent number: 9015869
Abstract: A toilet closure apparatus mounts on a toilet having a base assembly defining a bowl and a bowl ledge, a tank assembly, a toilet lid and a toilet seat. A tank mounting bolt has a tank mounting bolt bore extending axially therethrough. A cable housing is sealedly affixed within the tank mounting bore and disposed to allow a cable to move axially through the tank mounting bore. A hinge assembly includes a frame defining a downwardly extending cable run and an internal cavity including a cylindrical bearing surface having a horizontally extending axis. A hinge member is supported by the bearing surface for rotation about the axis. A hinge pin extends outwardly of the frame, and is fixedly engaged with the toilet seat to effect toilet seat rotation in common with rotation of the hinge member about the axis, the hinge member having at least one camming surface.

  • Patent number: 8668063
Abstract: A damping shaft mechanism has a spiral shaft, spiral guide bush, a shell and blade. An external spiral structure is arranged at one end of the spiral shaft, and its core has a cone segment. An internal spiral structure is arranged in the spiral guide bush, which cooperates rotationally with the external spiral structure so that it can move along the axis relative to the spiral shaft when the spiral shaft is rotating. The two cavities change size by moving the spiral guide bush driven by the spiral shaft in the shell, and the taper on the spiral shaft makes the fit clearance between the spiral shaft and the spiral guide bush changed from maximum to minimum gradually in the damping process, so that the oil-flowing section between the two cavities changes from big to small.

  • Patent number: 8479323
Abstract: A mounting mechanism for toilet seats is provided which includes an easy accessible pull handle, connected to a mechanism associated with the seat that holds the seat in a vertical rest position. The handle is the only part that needs to be maneuvered by the toilet user when the user desires that the seat be in horizontal position. After using the seat in such horizontal position, the provided mechanism automatically moves the seat back up into the vertical rest position. This mechanism eliminates handling of potentially unsanitary toilet seats with hands. Thus, the handle is the only part which the person using the toilet is touching. Since the handle is positioned away from the seat and outside of the area where typically splashing occurs, an utmost sanitary and hygienic state is accomplished by the current invention.

Abstract: A toilet cover assembly comprises a seat (1) and a cover (2) each being pivotally connected with a bracket (3) adapted to be fastened to a toilet bowl by means of two interspaced hinges (6,7). The seat (1) and the cover (2) are pivotally interconnected by means of two interspaced hinges of the pin-b earing type, each comprising a hinge member (6) fixedly secured to the seat (1) and a hinge member (7) fixedly secured with the cover (2). One of the hinge members (6) is provided with a protruding pin (9), whereas the other hinge member (7) is provided with a bearing (12) for receiving said pin (9). The hinge members (6) fixedly secured to the seat (1) and the cover (2) respectively are arranged such that the hinge pins (9) can be brought into and out of engagement with the hinge bearings by axial displacement of the seat (1) relative to the cover (2) when the seat (1) and the cover (2) are detached from the bracket (3).

  • Patent number: 5974595
Abstract: A device for automatically closing an open toilet seat after an adjustable low-speed phase to permit the user to finish using the toilet. The seat then closes at a speed which is adjustable by the user separately from the initial low speed. A biasing member is used to urge the open seat toward the closed position. A pneumatic or hydraulic dampener is mechanically linked to the seat and slows the seat's descent. As the seat rotates toward the closed position it causes a reciprocating member to move inside the dampener. As the reciprocating member moves it forces a dampening fluid to flow from the main chamber of the dampener, through one or both of two openings, to a low pressure area within the dampener. During the low-speed phase, the reciprocating member blocks and prevents the flow of the dampening fluid through one of the openings. This heavily restricted flow allows the seat to move very slowly at first.

  • Patent number: 5898953
Abstract: A Rising Seat that can be fixed permanently to a seat or toilet and which can also be readily adapted as a portable seat. It comprises a top rising section on which the user sits, pivoted to a bottom section. There is at least one torsion spring located on a torsion bar that may also act as a hinge. When the legs of any selected number of springs are placed in spaces/openings incorporated in the seat, those springs become inoperable having been moved away from firm surfaces on the rising seat against which they give resilience to the top section. This enables adjustment to be made to suit the weight of the user, and when the legs of all the springs are placed in the spaces/openings the top section can be folded down without resilience for carriage and storage and to give the appearance of a standard seat cushion when not in use.

Abstract: An automatic toilet seat closing apparatus, particularly adapted for use with a toilet seat is described. The apparatus will automatically lower a toilet seat that has been rotated to a raised position after a time interval determined by the extent to which a wind-up motor is wound. The mechanism is simply constructed and preferably mounted on the bottom surface of a standard toilet seat, so that it provides a clean, neat appearance which is aesthetically pleasing and does not interfere with the cleaning or maintenance of the toilet fixture. The apparatus includes an energy storage device, a locking mechanism, an override mechanism, and a wind-up motor which serves both as a timer and a triggering device. The energy storage device includes springs which store energy transferred to it by a user when a user raises the toilet seat, for use in urging the toilet seat back to a lowered position after the time period clocked by the wind-up motor has elapsed.
