The cleaning fluid discharged into the basin flows through a drain hole in the false bottom, through the filter and support grid, and then through a drain hole in the bottom panel of the sink member back into the tank for reuse. The cleaning fluid includes, at least, a surfactant that functions to remove organic waste from the parts being washed.

    Abstract: A drain valve assembly adapted for use with sinks, lavatories, and tubs is disclosed. The drain valve assembly comprises a valve body or drain sleeve which is mounted in the drain port or opening of the sink, lavatory, or tub and includes a valve seat formed around its open upper end and a stud axially mounted within the drain sleeve. A removably mounted stopper is positioned within the drain sleeve for axial reciprocation on the stud. The stopper is provided with gripping means which cooperate with stop means formed on the stud for holding the stopper either in a raised or open position or a lowered or closed position. A resilient seal means is mounted on the stopper for seating in fluid tight relation with the valve seat at the open outer end of the drain sleeve when the stopper is in the lowered or closed position.

The assembly can be installed by one person from above the sink or the like simply by pushing it down into the drain aperture with a twisting motion until at least some of the fins in each group tightly engage the under surface of the drain aperture, the fins thereby readily accommodating both stainless steel and cast iron sinks or the like of various wall thicknesses.

    Abstract: A disposable filter unit for use with a parts washer or the like. The filter consists of a body in the general form of a bag, made from a softenable but substantially solvent-impermeable thermoplastic material having a neck portion attached to a mounting collar. The mounting collar is a stiff but resilient element suitable for being positioned and retained within the drain opening of the parts washer, being constantly held in place by a cup or screen. The filter body has large by-pass openings in the neck, smaller openings in the upper body portion and still smaller openings in the lowermost portion. The filter acts by trapping sharp-edged or jagged particles such as slivers and filings, both on the interior surface of the bag and within the openings. Entrapment of the filtered material effectively creates a finer mesh filter, and the graduated opening sizes provide a combination filtration and settling action.
