Abstract: In alternative embodiments, the invention provides compositions, e.g., formulations, used for gastric, gastrointestinal and/or colonic treatments or lavage, e.g., orthostatic lavage, e.g., for inducing the purgation (e.g., cleansing) of a gastrointestinal (GI) tract, including a colon; and methods for making and using them. In alternative embodiments, compositions and methods of the invention are used for the stabilization, amelioration, treatment and/or prevention of constipation, for the treatment of abdominal pain, particularly non-specific abdominal pain, and diarrhea, including diarrhea caused by a drug side effect, a psychological condition, a disease or a condition such as Crohn's Disease, a poison, a toxin or an infection, e.g., a toxin-mediated travelers diarrhea, or C. difficile or the pseudo-membranous colitis associated with this infection.

Abstract: There is disclosed a method and an apparatus for reducing the amount of waste, requiring special handling and possible destruction, in a process involving vaporization, in an evaporator apparatus (1-6, V1-V6), of a water solution containing environmentally hazardous substances. A considerable amount of the water content of said water solution is vaporized in a reusable vaporization chamber (2a). At a certain time, the vaporization process is stopped, so that the remaining water content is 70% to 5% of the initial water content. Thereafter, in a second step, the remaining water solution in the reusable vaporization chamber (2a) is transferred into a separate waste isolating container (6), where the remaining water is subjected to at least one further water-reducing process. The remaining waste, including the environmentally hazardous substances, is left in the waste container for separate handling and possible destruction.

Abstract: The inventive embodiments concern a method for flushing a toilet for vehicles, especially for motor homes, buses, recreational vehicles, or watercraft, with a toilet bowl, a control unit for actuating a flushing with a control program, and with a conduit piece for drainage of the waste water from the toilet bowl into a waste-holding tank and a toilet system for implementing the method and a vehicle with the toilet system according to the inventive embodiments.

A passing part (4) is disposed between the toilet bowl (7) and the cassette (15) in the inserted state (EZ). The passing part (4) can be closed by a passing part closure (5). According to the invention, the interlock mechanism (71) can be coupled with the passing part closure (5) and the cassette (15). The invention further relates to a toilet having such an interlock mechanism and a method for operating it.

Abstract: A disposable bedpan liner in accordance with one aspect of the invention includes an elongated liquid impervious flexible sleeve having oppositely disposed open ends. The mouth of the liner is defined at one end of such sleeve and has first handle means associated therewith to allow the mouth to be opened and brought into juxtaposition with the seat portion of a bedpan and to be closed after use by a patient. A second handle means is connected adjacent the other of the sleeve ends so that when the sleeve is folded over on itself and the first and second handle means are brought and held together, a purse-like structure is provided. The thus folded over sleeve forms a pouch for containing waste matter with release of the second handle means allowing the sleeve to unfold and the waste matter to pass outwardly through the above-noted other one of the open ends.
