  • Patent number: 7171703
Abstract: A track assembly for flexible pool covers. The track assembly includes track members, and securing pieces for being secured to the pool deck and for splicing the track members together in an end-to-end series. The securing pieces are designed to reside beneath, and to be concealed by, the tracking members. The securing pieces may be attached to a pool deck with fasteners, after which the track members may be snapped downwardly onto the securing pieces to thereby secure the track members to said securing pieces. The track members conceal the securing pieces, and the fasteners that secure the securing pieces to the pool deck, thereby providing an aesthetic appearance of continuous tracking uninterrupted by fasteners, fastener holes, or other through holes. This arrangement prevents the fasteners from coming loose and posing a risk to barefooted bathers, because the upward movement of the fasteners is inhibited by the track members that reside above the fasteners.

  • Patent number: 7132954
Abstract: System and method for monitoring a working status of a swimming pool cover assembly. The system comprises a pool cover assembly operably connected to an alarm apparatus; both may be operably connected to a plurality of sensors capable of detecting a working status of the pool cover assembly and sending a signal to the alarm apparatus. The alarm apparatus continually produces at least one humanly perceptible indication corresponding to a working status of the pool cover assembly. The alarm apparatus includes at least one alarm-producing device, such as an audio or visual device, or combination of the two, a receiver operably connected to the plurality of sensors for receiving the signals, a processor operably coupled with the receiver for processing and recognizing the received signals, and software operably coupled with the processor enabling the alarm-producing device to produce the humanly perceptible indication corresponding to the recognized signal.

  • Patent number: 6938415
Abstract: An invented fluidic (hydraulic/pneumatic) actuation system is described wherein bidirectional, hydraulic/pneumatically driven elements of multiple components in a common hydraulic/pneumatic circuit inherently provide increases in pressure upon reaching mechanical end points limiting, arresting or stopping further mechanical movement or travel of the driven element of any particular component that switches a sequencing valve system and/or electro-hydraulic/pneumatic pressure switches for directing hydraulic/pneumatic power to other hydraulically/pneumatically driven components in the hydraulic/pneumatic circuit in a timed, sequenced and velocity controlled manner.

  • Patent number: 6931673
Abstract: A system and method that improves the interconnection between a pool cover and a storage reel so that the pool cover can more readily be wound on the storage reel in an even manner. The system includes at least one rigid plate that is attached to an edge of the pool cover. The rigid plate can be either manufactured into the structure of the pool cover or retroactively added to the edge of the pool cover. A mechanical fastening system is provided that enables the rigid plates at the edge of the pool cover to be attached to the storage reel so that the edge of the pool cover is held parallel to the axis of rotation for the storage reel. In this manner, the edge of the pool cover is automatically aligned with the storage reel by attaching the rigid plate to the storage reel.

  • Patent number: 6910233
Abstract: An elongated roller shutter profile of plastic or metal for swimming pool covers has a water-proof closure that closes an end of at learnt one longitudinal hollow chamber of the roller shutter profile. The closure includes a cap at least partly inserted from the end into the chamber, a piston plate spaced from the cap, and a sealing body between the cap and the piston plate. The sealing body made of an elastic and/or plastic material is brought into a sealing state by clamping between the piston plate and the cap so that the sealing body expands in width and rests in a circumferentially tight manner on the inner walls of the hollow chamber.

  • Patent number: 6871362
Abstract: The present invention 10 discloses a pair of end heads 28, 30 that are interconnected onto the inwardly disposed tube assembly 26 to form the pool cover 12 storage reel. Hand wheels 32 are rotationally attached to tube assembly 26 by end tubes 36 on the outside of the end heads 28, 30. Each of the end heads 28, 30 includes a pair of casters 40 mounted to the bottom surface of the end head. The tube assembly 26 consists of five components, a center tube 34, two outer tubes 36 and two end caps 42. The center tube is of larger diameter and allows for the two outer tubes to be telescopically inserted into the opposing distal ends. The cylindrically shaped tubes include mating male 48 and female 46 extrusions along the surfaces to ensure joint rotational movement of the tube assembly.

  • Patent number: 6862756
Abstract: A walk-on tray apparatus for concealing a pool cover operation system, is disclosed. A plurality of brackets each having a load-bearing upper portion may be attached to a sidewall of an elongate recess formed at one end of a pool, such that the load-bearing upper portions of the brackets extend in a substantially horizontal orientation. A plurality of platform sections each include a mortar veneer, a tray with an attachment plate removably disposed beneath an under side of the tray, and a nut-tightening arrangement, such that the load-bearing upper portions may be securely sandwiched between the under side of the tray and the attachment plate. The platform sections may reside in a side-by-side, sequential series. The mortar veneer may be formed directly on the tray, and the facade may be modified and customized to match the appearance of the perimeter sections of a pool deck. The veneer may be composed of mortar, resin and negligible amounts of fiberglass particles, forming an elastic composition.
