  • Patent number: 10548764
Abstract: A cooling bed system is configured to provide a cooling airflow around a patient suffering from heat exhaustion, heat stroke and or burns. A cooling bed system produces an airflow over a patient and preferably an airflow from both above and below the patient to more effectively and quickly cool the patient. A cooling bed system may also include a liquid dispenser that creates mist that is carried by the airflow to further cool the patient. A patient may be supported by a platform having a plurality of openings to allow airflow and mist to pass therethrough. A controller controls the airflow rate and/or temperature of the air, and may also control the liquid dispensing rate and/or temperature of the liquid as a function of an input from a temperature sensor to effectively and safely cool the patient.

  • Patent number: 4671284
Abstract: A personal sauna has a horizontally extending bed for supporting an individual in a recumbent position, and combines the benefits of heat and vibration by means of a transversely recirculating air system and a motive means which simultaneously moves the bed with both relatively fast vibrations and relatively slow, longitudinally oscillating rocking motions. The air recirculation system comprises a chamber extending longitudinally beneath the bed supporting the individual, and two elongated heating elements disposed below opposite side regions of the bed heat air which is then directed upwardly to a compartment surrounding the body at substantially equal airflow rates along the entire length of the bed. Transverse airflow through the compartment minimizes the face velocity of the flowing air, and thereby reduces the likelihood of drafts while substantially eliminating the occurrence of localized relatively hot regions within the compartment.

  • Patent number: 4565188
Abstract: A vibratory sauna including a housing having a closure member associated therewith which comprises a base and continuous side wall. There is also provided resilient mounting means for mounting the support member in or on the housing and vibration means for causing vibration of the support member. There is also provided a chamber in the housing located below the support member which has heating means such as a heated element and airflow generation means such as a fan associated therewith. The arrangement is such that heated air may be caused to flow out of the chamber and above the support member to contact the person resting on the support member while the support member is being vibrated by the vibration means. Afterwards the heated air may be returned to the chamber to provide a continuous circulation of heated air throughout the housing.
