Patent number: 4424438Abstract: A control system for selectively turning on and off various electrical devices used in the operation of a spa is disclosed. The control system includes a power supply for generating a 5 volt DC voltage from a 120 volt AC external power source, a timing circuit, a clearing circuit and a plurality of control circuits, one for each device to be controlled. Each control circuit, which is driven by the 5 volt DC voltage, includes a relay which is adapted to be coupled to the electrical device to be controlled, a momentary manually operated switch, a pair of flip-flops, a gate, a transistor, and an incadescent light bulb. In the operation of the circuit the transistor is turned on and off by the flip-flops and the output of the transistor is used to energize or deenergize the relay. Because the circuits operate at low DC voltage, the switches through which these voltages are transmitted can be located at or near the spa without causing potential safety problems.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1981Date of Patent: January 3, 1984Assignee: Stanmar TechnologyInventors: Stanley I. Patent number: 4414695Abstract: A generally centrally located, positionable, rotating or stationary hydrotherapeutic multiple jet head for use in a water filled receptacle such as a spa, tub or swimming pool to provide innumerable variations in the jet stream patterns, force, depth and direction relative to an occupant in the water filled receptacle. The device is an air and water jet head having multiple levels of radially oriented jets and position adjustable water and air inlet tubes coupled to said jet head that allow the jet head to be positioned vertically, horizontally and to tilt through a wide range within the receptacle. The user can position the location of the jet head and select the jet stream patterns emanating from the head. A variable speed rotating jet stream feature is also included which provides a soothing wave-like effect. The air and water inlet tubes may connect to the jet heat from below or above. Operating and installation costs are reduced due to simplified piping and shorter jet stream travel distances.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1981Date of Patent: November 15, 1983Inventor: James F. Hart

Patent number: 4409693Abstract: The invention relates to a bubble bath device with varyingly large and separately operable air exit holes for large and small bubble production. The bubble bath device has at least one device body which in turn contains at least one air chamber. The air exit holes of the air chamber of chambers are provided for at least one treatment type. In addition, the device comprises tubular conduits, particularly hoses, which also have air exit holes, constructed for at least one further treatment type.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1982Date of Patent: October 18, 1983Inventor: Peter Baumann

Patent number: 4391006Abstract: A transfer bench for use in enabling an invalid to be moved at least partially into a bathtub, either from a wheelchair or standing position, comprised of an approach seat extending partly outside the front side wall of the bathtub and a main seat assembly disposed directly over the center of the bathtub. Both the approach seat and main seat assembly are supported by a pair of parallel bar members, each of which includes a horizontal section and inner end turned downwardly to rest on the floor of the tub. The opposite end of each bar member serves as one part of a clamp upon the front side wall of the tub and to support the approach seat. The other part of the clamping means consists of a vertical element extending downwardly from the horizontal section of the main bar member and disposable on such bar member in any one of the plurality of positions for generally positioning the clamping means.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1982Date of Patent: July 5, 1983Inventor: Alfred A. Patent number: 4373221Abstract: A safety support for supporting a body in an upright position while seated in a bathtub comprising a support bar having a curved central portion and secured transversely between the sides of the tub. The bar is supported by a pair of brackets secured to the side walls of the tub. The brackets include a plurality of registering apertures into which the ends of the bar can be inserted and permit the bar to be supported at different levels with respect to the floor of the tub. A retaining member confines the bather's body between itself and the support bar so that the body is retained in a substantially upright sitting position.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1980Date of Patent: February 15, 1983Inventor: Ruth I.
