  • Patent number: 6389617
Abstract: A portable shower is collapsible so that it takes up a relatively small amount of space when not in use. The portable shower has a top member, a bottom member, a shower curtain, a supply water tank, and a disposal water tank. Pumps are provided for the supply water tank and the disposal water tank, which are powered by vehicle power connected via a cigarette lighter adapter in order to heat the water and to run the pumps for the portable shower. In the collapsed condition, the top member and the bottom member of the portable shower are fitted together to enclose the supply water tank, the shower curtain, and the disposal water tank. The top member and the bottom member are releasably secured together by latches in the closed condition. In an open condition, the top member and the bottom member are pulled apart, and supported from above. Alternately, at least one support rod is placed between the bottom member and the top member, in the open position.

  • Patent number: 6000074
Abstract: A portable shower stall is disclosed. The present invention is designed to utilize a conventional trailer receiving hitch by providing a portable bathing apparatus, otherwise similar in nature to those commonly suspended from overhanging objects, designed to be secured directly to a standard receiver hitch. A main frame, of a generally linearly elongated, rectangular, upstanding, L-shaped configuration slidably engage and fittingly secures inside of the square channel of a conventional receiver hitch typically found on a motor vehicle, such as a truck or camper, via a frictional fit. A trailer receiving hitch connecting means connects the present invention to the trailer hitch via locking means. A water container holding hook or similar device is located on the end of the vertical member, opposite the horizontal member. The water container holding hook is used to releasably secure a water container above the user's head. A valve is used to facilitate controlled release of the water from the water container.

  • Patent number: 5446930
Abstract: A portable shower is formed of a base and upper shower ring carrying spray nozzles. The base and the ring each have sockets directed slightly outwardly from the vertical. Straight plastic pipes are fitted into the sockets to join the base and the shower ring, and, since the pipes have to be flexed in order to fit within the sockets, the pipes provide a tensioned fit which holds the unit together. At least one of the pipes carries a water inlet so that it can be connected to a hose and, so, carry water to the ring. Two hoses can be used, if desired, one for hot water and the other for cold; and then two of the pipes will carry water to the ring. In such event, a mixing chamber is provided in the ring so water of uniform temperature comes from each of the spray outlets in the shower ring. The base is a tank which holds water to provide weight and, so, stability to the shower.

  • Patent number: 4550946
Abstract: The single room interior space of a compact motorvan for most daytime living converts quickly into three private compartments by simply opening a set of dual function folding doors (movable partitions) exposing a toilet and bigger than average shower stall area (latter doubling as coat closet) and at the same time forming a central compartment, thereby automatically creating two more private compartments in front and rear. The kitchen facilities located in the central compartment, opposite from the toilet and shower/coat closet area, are used when the doors cover that area from view. This central utility compartment is always available for active use and never occupied by seats, table or beds. The four seats in the instantly creatable front compartment rapidly convert to two, wide single beds, with ample space between them for quick exit or access to the central privacy compartment. There is also an easily and quickly stowable overhead double adult size bed in this front compartment.

  • Patent number: 4539720
Abstract: A lightweight portable shower foldable into a backpack for campers or the like. A pliable water storage bag lies on a floor unit that also supports a vertical, sectioned, standpipe having a valved showerhead at the top. An annular curtain rod is held in a horizontal position by a hooking device at the top of the standpipe and supports a tubular shower curtain that is elastically connected to a rigid footpad atop the storage bag. In use, the weight of the user standing on the footpad provides water pressure to force water through the standpipe and showerhead. The elastic coupling to the footpad assures that the curtain will remain taut as water is forced from the storage bag.

  • Patent number: 4457553
Abstract: A portable shower mountable on a van or similar vehicle wherein a shower curtain is hung from a U-shaped frame which is adjustable in width and telescopes inwardly into parallel tubes mounted near opposite lengthwise rain gutters of a van roof. The parallel tubes are held in place by cross-tensioned straps, pulling against brackets secured to the rain gutters. An opaque shower curtain is suspended from the U-shaped frame by snap fasteners and has a lengthwise slide fastener near one end of the curtain for ingress and egress into the room formed by the curtain. A removable shelf is supported in the room from the rain gutter and supports a water bottle in proximity to the gutter for showering. A fabric self-supporting shower pan is provided over the ground beneath the shelf with the forward end of the pan hung by hooks from the rear bumper of the vehicle for draining the pan into a receptacle.
