Abstract: An injection molded shower stall assembly or bathtub assembly particularly for use in a recreational vehicle includes an injection molded tub or shower base, which includes an integrally formed drainpipe which is externally threaded and adapted to easily and permanently be connected to plumbing for the recreational vehicle. Injection molded walls are formed to surround either the shower stall or tub. The injection molded walls have lower edges that interfit with edges of the tub or shower stall in a way which prevents water from flowing behind the preformed walls and holds the lower edges of the preformed walls in position, eliminating the need for any type of penetrating fastener along the base of the walls. The walls are formed in multiple sections that fit one on top of the other, with interfitting lower and upper edges, again to reduce the need for penetrating fasteners and to hold the sections in position.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to methods of installation and use of drain and drain concealment structures. The preferred embodiment involves a method of installing and using a mortar drain base, threaded invertible membrane clamp, threaded flanged pipe, and drain cover when installed in a handmade mortared shower bed, or using a threaded pan drain base, threaded flanged pipe, and drain cover when installed on a prefabricated shower pan. The drain body may be connected to the shower bed or shower pan by any suitable means, such as but not by way of limitation by being integrally molded therewith during the manufacture of the pan, by connection post-manufacture, or in situ in the field. The cover, which is defined by a peripheral edge supported by horizontal cantilevered posts, is adapted to lie in registry with, and thereby cover, the drain aperture perforating the threaded flanged pipe. In this way, water is permitted to exit the shower or bath without the drain aperture being visible.

  • Patent number: 8973178
Abstract: A heat exchanger for a shower tray can be arranged in the bottom of the shower tray for the heat recovery from wastewater so as to heat fresh water. To this end, the heat exchanger has a planar cover plate as the drain surface over which the wastewater drains. The cover plate forms the bottom of the shower tray, over which a lid that can be removed without the use of tools is arranged as a tread plate. The heat exchanger preferably includes a distributor element, which is arranged for distributing the wastewater over the drain surface. The distributor element is preferably a retaining element, which retains the wastewater at an upper edge of the drain surface and forms an overflow along the upper edge.

Abstract: The invention relates to a one-piece shower pan with no openings for water leakage, other than the drain hole, and designed for easy installation of tiles of various thicknesses. The shower pan comprises a drain hole designed to fit a conventional drain pipe such that when the conventional drain pipe is fastened to the shower pan, the conventional drain pipe extends ½ to 2 inches above the bottom of the shower pan. In this way, when cement or other adhesive is floated on the interior surface of the shower pan, tiles of varying thickness can be installed in such a manner that the top surface of the tiles are substantially flush with the top portion of the conventional drain pipe. The shower pan also has a waterdam with a fin extending vertically on the outer edge of the waterdam as added protection against water migration outside the shower pan.

Abstract: A segmented drain system comprises a drain body, operable to mate with a drain fitting installed in a bath or shower area, and a bonding flange body, adjustable relative to the drain body. An integrated bonding flange extends from the bonding flange body, the integrated bonding flange being operable to be sealably attached to a bondable waterproof membrane to provide a substantially water-tight seal between the membrane and the bonding flange body. A seal is oriented between the integrated bonding flange body and the drain body, the seal being operable to provide a slidable, substantially water-tight interface between the integrated bonding flange body and the drain body.
