Patent number: 6289532Abstract: A tub waste overflow assembly that is attachable to a tub wall by means of a threaded retaining body insertable through an overflow drain aperture in a tub wall to engage a cooperatively threaded pipe fitting on the opposite side of the tub wall. A chamfered washer is provided to cooperate with the retaining body and an annular sealing gasket to produce a fluid-tight seal on the interior surface of the tub wall. A forwardly projecting fulcrum member on the pipe fitting preferably contacts the exterior tub wall outwardly of the aperture to facilitate connection of a drain pipe to tub walls over a range of included angles, and no seal is required around the overflow drain aperture on the exterior tub wall. A unitarily molded, knock-out test plug is provided across the bore of the retaining body and a handle desirably attached to the test plug projects into the tub to facilitate installation.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2000Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: LSP Products Group, Inc.Inventors: Kurt M. Patent number: 6216288Abstract: A sealing member is provided for a bathtub. A conventional plate is coupled to the wall of a bathtub and covers a drain opening formed therein. The plate is continuous except for an overflow opening which accommodates the free flow of water from the bathtub through the drain opening and down the overflow drain of the bathtub. The sealing member sealingly engages the plate and the bathtub wall to prevent water from flowing through the overflow opening of the plate and down the overflow drain of the bathtub. The sealing member includes an annular lip which fits snugly within the overflow opening of the plate. In an alternate embodiment, a bypass opening is formed in the sealing member at a height greater than that of the overflow opening of the plate. A channel formed within the sealing member extends between the bypass opening and the overflow drain. Water may then enter the sealing member at a height greater than the overflow opening and be channeled through the overflow drain and out of the bathtub.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1999Date of Patent: April 17, 2001Inventor: Barry Bernau

Patent number: 6138298Abstract: An overflow plate assembly for tubs has an outlet port associated with a drain pipe. A mounting plate is secured to the port. A first fluid overflow plate has an inner and outer surface. The first overflow plate is secured to a mounting plate on the port by a screw or the like. The first mounting plate has a fluid inlet opening in its bottom portion. A second overflow plate has an upstanding clip on its lower inner surface then extends upwardly through the inlet opening of the first overflow plate to detachably clip the second overplate to the outer surface of the first overflow plate.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1999Date of Patent: October 31, 2000Assignee: WCM Industries, Inc.Inventor: William T. Patent number: 6073278Abstract: An overflow plate assembly for tubs has an outlet port associated with a drain pipe. A mounting plate is secured to the port. A fluid overflow plate has an inner and outer surface. A pair of prongs are secured to the inner surface and extend into suitable mounting openings in the mounting plate to frictionally secure the overflow plate to the mounting plate.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1999Date of Patent: June 13, 2000Assignee: WCM Industries, Inc.Inventor: William T. Patent number: 6058525Abstract: A multi-piece waste and overflow unit is used with a bathtub to remove waste water via the overflow drain hole, bottom drain hole, or both holes of the bathtub. The multi-piece waste and overflow unit includes a bottom connector and overflow connector. Both connectors comprise a tubular member, a flange extending radially outwardly with respect to the tubular member, and a frustoconical connector between and connecting the tubular member and the flange. The flanges have a channel formed thereon to receive leakproof adhesive for connecting the connectors to the bathtub respectively. The multi-piece waste and overflow unit also utilizes elbows, T-joints, and conventional pipes for connecting the bottom and overflow connectors.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1998Date of Patent: May 9, 2000Assignee: Plumbing Innovations, L.L.C.Inventor: Kent Paden

Patent number: 5890241Abstract: An overflow system for a bathtub has an overflow port and has a drain pipe in connection with the overflow port. A flexible diaphragm is secured to and seals the port by a plate having a center opening. The diaphragm seals the overflow port when the system is being tested for leaks with pressurized fluid. Following the test, when the fluid is removed, the diaphragm is cut or slashed to open the overflow port to provide fluid flow. A cap covering the plate and the diaphragm is secured to the drain pipe and covers the plate and the diaphragm.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1998Date of Patent: April 6, 1999Assignee: WCM Industries, Inc.Inventor: William T. Patent number: 5819335Abstract: A washing facility including a receptacle fabricated in sheet material with deck portions. The preferred receptacle has vertical front and rear planar walls joined by an arcuate central wall. The rear wall has an inlet, and the front wall has an overflow and an outlet, the former being visible but the latter being obscured from the front of the facility. A water supply unit on the exterior of the receptacle under the deck includes a nozzle over the inlet, for ejecting water from the inlet in an arcing laminar sheet, and valves connected to the nozzle. Valve control handles are slidably mounted on the deck and connected to the valves through the deck. A water drainage unit on the exterior of the receptacle has a chamber over the overflow and the outlet, stopper slidable between open and closed position, and a drain conduit leading from the chamber. A stopper handle located on the inner surface of the receptacle is attached to the stopper for moving the stopper between its two positions.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1996Date of Patent: October 13, 1998Inventor: Frank J. Patent number: 5228153Abstract: A protective cover for a drain handle fixture. The protective cover includes a semi-spherical central section having a peripheral edge and a ring shaped outer section integral formed with the peripheral edge and removably mounted to a front interior wall of a bathtub such that the semi-spherical central section protectively covers a drain handle fixture mounted to the front interior wall. The semi-spherical central section is provided with at least one aperture formed therein, thereby permitting the actuation of a drain handle projectingly mounted to the drain handle fixture. Preferably, the semi-spherical section is sized with respect to the drain handle to selectively limit access to the drain handle through the apertures.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1991Date of Patent: July 20, 1993Assignee: Kel-Gar, Inc.Inventor: Gail B.
