Abstract: An anti-pilfer device for application to a cork of a wine bottle includes a disc. The disc has a recess in at least one surface and is adapted to accommodate an adhesive for securing the disc to the cork. The disc is formed from a material having a relatively wide useful temperature range. The range is from about −5° C. to about 100° C. such that the material has a glass transition temperature below about −5° C. and a softening point in excess of about 100° C.

Abstract: A closure and lenticular lens assembly that has a retaining member with a bend and a substantially horizontal, circular rim portion is disclosed. The rim portion extends annularly inward from the bend to secure the lens to a top surface of the closure. A method for forming the closure and lens assembly is also disclosed that includes placing a lenticular lens into the closure top and curling the retaining member radially inward over an edge of the lenticular lens.

Abstract: A security label for a specimen container comprising a generally elongated strip of label material having a plurality of lines of perforations is disclosed. Also disclosed is a security label for a specimen container having a line of perforations. The line or lines of perforations of the disclosed invention extend across the width of the generally elongated strip of label material. A method of securing a specimen container is also disclosed. The method disclosed involves providing a security label comprising a generally elongated strip of label material defining a first surface and a second surface. A plurality of lines of perforations extend across the width of the generally elongated strip of label material. The security label is then adhered to a specimen container so that the center portion of the security label is aligned with the lid of a specimen container.

Abstract: A lid for foodstuff containers includes a shell shaped so that it can be fitted over an opening in a container, and a PVC-free seal, bearing an inscription, attached to the bottom of the shell and able to seal the lid to the container; the seal is applied to the bottom of the lid by applying adhesive paint between the bottom and the seal; this paint which can be used to control the adherence of the seal to the bottom, consists of a mixture of synthetic resins and hydrocarbons with added metallic pigment; a film bearing the inscription is applied over the paint, said inscription made using an ink which has a given chemical-physical affinity with the material used for the seal; it is, therefore, easy to detach the seal from the bottom of the lid upon which the inscription is clearly reproduced.

Abstract: A lid for covering a beverage container. The lid includes a platform configured for engaging the container, and the platform includes retaining structure and a top surface with indicia associated therewith. An index member is retained generally on the top surface of the platform by the retaining structure, and the index member defines a window for viewing therethrough the indicia associated with the top surface of the platform. The index member is rotatable with respect to the top surface of the platform such that the window moves with respect to the indicia associated with the top surface of the platform. Both the platform and index member are configured to receive a straw generally in a center of the platform and index member. The index member includes stability-enhancing structure generally at a peripheral edge of the index member, and the stability-enhancing structure at least partially defines an edge of the window.

Abstract: A dispensing package closure with a lenticular lens insert wherein the closure includes a retaining ring for easy positioning and secure attachment of the lenticular lens to the closure top. The closure with lenticular lens insert provides a selected visual effect whereby the lenticular lens provides the illusion of three dimensional images, moving images, or multiple images when viewed from different angles. The enhanced visual appearance of the closure with lenticular image increases the saleability and marketability of products sold in dispensing packages sealed with the closure with lenticular lens insert.

Abstract: A datable food storage container including a vessel having an upper mouth-defining structure, a vessel wall and a vessel bottom; a lid fixable to the upper mouth-defining structure, the lid having a top surface and a bottom surface, the lid having a lid cavity in the top surface; and a dating mechanism positioned in the lid cavity and releasably engaged with the lid, the dating mechanism including a plurality of generally cylindrical body members fixably rotatable about a common axis substantially parallel to the top surface of the lid, each of the body members having an outer surface which carries indicia, and a tubular shaft releasably engaged with the lid and extending through the cylindrical body members along the common axis such that the body members are fixably rotatable about the shaft.

Abstract: By employing an award determining prize member incorporating a lens constructed to cooperate with printed indicia which produces a minimum of two separate and distinct visual images, depending upon the angle at which images are viewed, a unique and highly valued prize member is created, as well as prize award members which are incapable of having prize related information observed by the consumer prior to purchasing the item. In the present invention, the visual image representing the prize award information is quickly and easily mounted to the inside surface of a cap and is constructed with at least one image thereof being visible only when viewed at an angle which is substantially perpendicular to the surface of the indicia. In this way, advance determination of winning prize members by consumers prior to opening and removing the cap from the container is eliminated.

Abstract: A removable inner compartment promotional closure includes a plastic closure cap having a circular top wall portion and a depending annular skirt portion depending from the top wall portion. A circular, resilient liner is positioned in the cap, and has a retaining element extending therefrom. A removable compartment member is positioned in the closure cap in engagement with the retaining element. The compartment defines an interior compartment adapted to receive promotional indicia, such as a promotional game piece, therein. The compartment is adapted to release from the cap after the cap is removed from the container. A sealed cover element may be positioned to extend over and close the compartment member, to isolate the compartment from the contents of the container. The promotional closure is used in conjunction with a simulated promotional closure, which configured to be is indistinguishable from the promotional closure cap.

Abstract: The present invention is a device for indicating when a person either took a pill or other medication, or when he is scheduled to take the next dose of the medication. The invention is conveniently attached to a pill bottle having a cap. An image of a clock face is printed on or adhered to the top of the bottle cap and/or the bottom and may include either a MEDICATION TAKEN AT image or a MEDICATION DUE AT image. A transparent, rotatable cap, having an arrow indicator inscribed thereon, is placed over the bottle cap. A second transparent, rotatable cap, having an arrow indicator inscribed thereon may be placed over a clock face image and a medication image on the bottom for use as a second timer reminder. When a medication is taken, the rotatable cover covering the MEDICATION TAKEN AT end is turned to the time taken. The opposite end timer is then turned to the MEDICATION DUE AT end to indicate when the next dose is due.

Abstract: An improved container closure and printed matter insert. The closure includes a central recess for receiving the insert with an inwardly projecting flange for retaining the insert therein. The closure includes an outer skirt, a top wall, and an angled side wall defining the outer boundary of the central recess. The inwardly projecting flange does not extend above the top horizontal surface of the top wall, thus helping to prevent binding in assembly line. The insert is defined by a central circular disk portion and a plurality of outwardly extending tabs. The tabs are formed with lines of weakness along the peripheral outline of the central disk portion, to enable them to flex upward above the plane of the disk. The lines of weakness may be score lines or perforations. When inserted into the recess of the closure, the tabs of the insert conform to the angled side wall and extend approximately from the central floor to the inwardly extending retaining flange.

Abstract: A compliance system is described to help patients organize and comprehend multiple or single medication and treatment schedules. Containers for prescribed and over-the-counter drugs are numbered to coordinate with a numbered medication listing and medication profile. The numbered medication listing is made visible on an easel structure that also comprises large master dials whose faces have time or day indicia imprinted and an attached anchor on which a perforated pointer is seated to rotate relative to each other. Optional magnet master dials are provided for other visible places, such as the refrigerator door, to alert to schedule compliance time or day. The numbered containers are provided with small dials, imprinted with time or day indicia, that are perforated to seat on the adhesive anchor arrow indicator to rotate relative to each other.

Abstract: A cosmetic container comprising a hollow body for containing cosmetics therein, a cap adapted to be secured at one end to the body and a band adapted to be mounted onto the cap. The cap has first, second and third cap portions. The first cap portion has a plurality of indicia. The second cap portion is positioned adjacent the first cap portion and has a plurality of embossments with each embossment aligned with a different one of the plurality of indicia. The second cap portion also has a plurality of tabs. The band has first, second and third surface portions. The first surface portion fits about the first cap portion and has a hole through which the indicia can be viewed. The second and third surface portions are sized to fit about the second cap portion. The second surface portion has an inside surface with a plurality of grooves therein.

Abstract: A container system and method for indicating the proper orientation of the closure of a container. The system comprises a container and rotatable closure, and a label applied in an overlapping relation to the closure and container. The label has an area which can be separated, and alignment indicators on the two segments of the label which are unaligned. In use, after the label has been applied, the closure is removed by unscrewing, breaking the label. Thereafter, when the closure is reapplied, the closure is overtightened to align the previously unaligned alignment indicators of the label to insure a leak-free containeer system after the closure has been reapplied.

Abstract: A compact piggyback expandable package assembly safely dispenses labels for attachment to bottles, containers, and closure caps, as well as to other surfaces. The compact package assembly is particularly useful in the pharmaceutical industry, but can also be used for other applications. The package assembly comprises a special foldable package which encloses a set of labels. A resealable tab can be provided to facilitate opening and closing of the package. In the preferred form, the piggyback package assembly has a base or base label which is attached to the package. The underside of the base has adhesive portions so that the package assembly can be mounted upon the top surface of a closure cap of a bottle, a web, or some other surface.

Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments of covers for smoking accessories. In a first embodiment, a covering device is provided designed to be snapped into place over the opening of the socket for a vehicle cigarette lighter. The covering device may have a design thereon providing an anti-smoking message. In a further embodiment, a plate is provided designed to cover an ashtray and to attach over the opening in the ashtray by a snapping connection with the cigarette holder thereof. Again, the upwardly facing surface of the plate may have an anti-smoking message thereon.

Abstract: A method for reminding a person when to take medication, is provided. A series of indicia are put on a plurality of flat areas about the circumference of the safety cap, which are in line with the interior stops of the safety cap. The indicia corresponds to times medication is required to be taken. The safety cap is placed upon a safety bottle in such a manner that one of the flat areas line up with an indicator below one of the plurality of exterior stops on the safety bottle that engage with the interior stops of the safety cap so as to show a person the first time medication is to be taken. The safety cap is then removed from the safety bottle and then replaced back on the safety bottle in such a manner that each next in sequence of the flat areas line up with the indicator 22 so as to show the person each next time medication is to be taken.

Abstract: An advertising device, comprising a sidewall defining an internal volume for containing a liquid and having an upper open portion and a bottom portion is disclosed. A bottom member closes the said bottom portion. The upper portion of the sidewall extends inward in the region of the upper portion which is uppermost on the tubular sidewall. A bead extends along the outside parameter of the said radially inwardly extending portion of the tubular sidewall. A cap has a tubular sidewall whose cross-sectional shape substantially coincides with the cross-sectional shape of that portion of the tubular sidewall between the upper portion of the tubular sidewall and the lower portion of the sidewall. A top member is secured along the inside of the cap sidewall, the top closing said cap. The inside of the cap sidewall is configured to grip the head to securely close the upper portion with the cap top. The inside of the cap bottom, has ridges or protrusions, to hold the glass steady when the cap is being used as a coaster.

Abstract: A novelty mailer for mailing correspondence and parcels by either civil or commercial postal services. The novelty mailer includes a shatterproof thin-wall container, preferably transparent, which has an opening through which both a written message or parcel and decorations may be passed therethrough. The opening is then closable and a mailing label connectable to the outer surface of the container may be addressed and posted for delivery. The decorations are preferably materials which identify a region and may include a decorative label of a region, while the closure means may be a stopper or closable lid. The closure means may also be sealed after being closed in or over the opening to provide visible indicia of unauthorized tampering.

Abstract: A lid insert is provided for releasable connection to a plastic lid having a subtantially flat top surface and an upwardly and inwardly projecting peripheral bead disposed above and spaced from the top surface of the lid. The lid insert is made of paperboard material having a planar configuration generally corresponding to the configuration of the flat top surface of the lid. The periphery of the planar lid insert includes a plurality of alternating indents and nodes. The area defined by the outermost points of the insert is greater than the area defined by the upwardly and inwardly projecting bead. This peripheral configuration of alternating nodes and indents facilitates the initial placement of the insert on the lid and enables the insert to compensate for the different expansion characteristics of the lid and the lid insert.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing peelable adhesive structures. It comprises preparing a first paint solution containing vinyl resin and a stably emulsified hydrocarbon or natural resin having softening point less than 180.degree. C. and concentration between 50 and 200 parts by weight per 100 parts of vinyl resin dispersed in a continuous phase of the vinyl resin. The first paint solution is applied onto a metal base material (1) to form a first coating layer (2). A second coating layer (3) is formed by applying a second paint solution containing epoxy resin and polyethylene oxide at a concentration of between 0.5 and 90 weight percent of epoxy resin over the first coating layer. The first and second coating layers have thicknesses ranging from about 0.5 to 100 mg/m.sup.2. A layer of olefin resin (4) is joined to the second coating layer.

The composite coating layer comprises adjacent first and second coating layers, the first coating layer containing vinyl resin, and the second coating layer containing epoxy resin. At least one of the coating layers comprises:(a) a peeling imparter at a concentration of between about 50 and 200 parts by weight per 100 parts of resin, and(b) a substantially linear saturated polyester wetting improver at a concentration of between about 2 and 50 parts per 100 parts of resin and having a molecular weight of between about 5,000 and about 50,000.Alternatively, at least one of the coating layers comprises a hydrocarbon or natural resin having a softening point less than 180.degree. C. and having a concentration between about 50 and 200 parts per 100 parts of resin.

Abstract: A plastic insert for sealing caps such as Crown Corks which is capable of forming a seal impermeable to liquid when it is pressed by the cap against the beaded mouth of a container. The insert comprises a central projection directed towards the interior of the container. This projection may comprise a transverse hole and/or a longitudinal hole rendering it possible to apply by means of a drawing pin or a safety pin or sew by means of a needle the insert onto a blouse or a display card board. In this manner the insert may be used as a trimming thus offering a certain advertisement to the manufacturer of the contents of the container.

Abstract: An indicator device for use in connection with milk bottles as a means of indicating a requirement therefor consists of two telescopingly and separably engaged conical members rotatably supported one upon another, and co-operating scale and pointer means on the respective parts adapted, according to a relative angular disposition, to indicate a selected one of a plurality of legends which constitute the scale.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a decorative label on a closured bottle, including a pilfer-proof feature. The neck label comprises a sleeve of a shrinkable plastic material shrunken over the neck and closure skirt on a bottle. The label stock may be preprinted in a roll and is (1) scored a partial depth lengthwise along a line corresponding to a cap skirt edge position in the label, and (2) embossed by pleats angularly disposed to the direction of orientation. The pleats provide an embossed decoration which appear in each label blank cut from the roll. Label blanks are wound to a sleeve shape and the overlapped ends united at an axial seam. The sleeves with embossed decoration and pilfer-proof score therein are placed over the neck and closure skirt of a bottle such that the score line is in position adjacent the lower edge of the closure skirt. Heat is applied to shrink the label into snug surface engagement with the underlying surfaces.
