This can involve using self-luminous microspheres or phosphorescent additive materials. Such materials will not be illuminated during the daylight, but when night falls (or other periods of relative darkness), they will illuminate the emblem or other indicia. These materials may be added directly to the plastic that is used to make the emblem.

Abstract: A protective advertisement cover for barriers is disclosed. The cover functions as both a protective cover and as an advertising substrate. The cover provides damage control and protection to anything coming into proximal contact with the bather while an advertisement component makes the barrier more noticeable and therefore more avoidable to customers, pedestrians, workers, trespassers and the like. The disclosed cover includes a shock absorbing component layer configured to absorb shock and substantially return to its original form after impact from a third object. The cover also includes an advertisement component layer that may be disparate from the underlayment shock absorbing layer or imprinted directly thereon. Additionally, the disclosed protective advertisement cover includes a transparent and deformable component layer which may shield the advertisement from weather and graffiti and contribute to protecting motor vehicle doors and body parts from damage by a bather.

Abstract: An identification patch adapted to be attached to an object for its identification and method. The patch comprises a first area of material radiating within a first infrared band detectable by a first device operating in said first infrared band and a second area of material radiating within a second infrared band detectable by a second device operating in said second infrared band. The combination of the first and second areas of material forms a discernable pattern detectable when using a selected one of said devices yet covert to the naked eye. A covert identification patch for a vehicle having a roof and method. The patch comprises a frame having a first surface and a second surface the frame dimensioned and having an external characteristic to approximate that of a sunroof, a first material on the first surface wherein the first material radiates electromagnetic radiation within a first band undetectable to the naked eye, and an adhesive for attaching the frame to the roof.

The sign further comprises a filter which is substantially transparent to light emitted by the display surface, filtering other colors of light. The display surface may be configured into a shape of a character, a symbol, or a device. Alternatively, a mask having at least one window substantially transparent to the emitted light and/or at least one light blocking region may be provided in which the window and/or light blocking region define a character, a symbol, or a device.
