With Auxilliary Light Source Patents (Class 40/562)
  • Patent number: 9208704
Abstract: Hybrid signage capable of self illumination and having an active backlight. The signage includes a turning film having a structured surface for redirecting light in order to passively illuminate a printed graphic or shaped sign when the backlight is off. In the shaped sign, the shape provides the content, such as letters, to be conveyed to the viewer instead of a graphic. The signage can be actively illuminated when the backlight is on to supplemental the passive illumination.

  • Patent number: 8938899
Abstract: Light apparatuses and lighting systems are described. According to one aspect, a light apparatus includes a plurality of light sources individually configured to emit light in a respective primary direction, and wherein the light sources are configured such that the primary directions of the light emitted by the light sources are at different angles with respect to a common plane, and a lens configured to direct the light from the light sources to a surface of an object which is to be illuminated.

  • Patent number: 5145246
Abstract: Arrangement for collecting and emitting light via defined surface areas (25) in order to create a slide. The arrangement consists of a number of transparent plate elements, collector plates (12-15), which are designed to receive incident light at one or more of their surfaces, collector surfaces (17-22), and to emit the received light at one or more of their other surfaces, emission surfaces (28). The collector plates consist of fluorescent material designed to convert received ultraviolet light to visible light. The arrangement comprises a plate (3) which forms a carrier for the slide which is to be presented. The plate elements (12-15) are set transverse to the carrier plate with their light-emitting surfaces (28) bearing against the rear side (29) of the carrier plate. The light-emitting surfaces (28) are situated in strip-shaped intermediate spaces between opaque parts (24) of the carrier plate.

  • Patent number: 4453327
Abstract: A solar display kiosk particularly to a display kiosk that during day time conditions is illuminated by the sun. It provides, in its preferred embodiment, a closed cylindrical member placed in the vertical position with an open or a closed but light transmissive upper end, which acts as a receiver for solar or ambient light. A circumferential band at the top of the kiosk acts a shading member to place regions immediately beneath such band into shade either totally or in part (umbra and penumbra). Translucent display materials are mounted in the walls of the cylinder in the zones of umbra or penumbra. To the viewer they appear to be highly illuminated, the illumination coming from the solar light entering into the center of the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4157531
Abstract: A signal lamp comprises a housing defining two openings of corresponding overall shape and size, and an electrical light source mounted in the housing to provide a light beam which leaves the housing by way of one of the openings. The lamp also comprises translucent members, each of which corresponds in overall shape and size to the shape and size of each of the two openings, and retaining nibs for retaining any one of the translucent members in the first opening, so that the light beam passes through that translucent member when leaving the housing, and for retaining any one at least of the translucent members in the second opening. At least one of the translucent members includes a color filter so that when that translucent member is fitted in the first opening the color of the light beam is modulated by the color filter.

  • Patent number: 4117616
Abstract: Adhesive backed information and border sign symbols are formed from finished metal sheet or coil which has initially applied to a back surface thereof adhesive covered by release paper. Reflectors are mounted in openings of the sign symbols retained therein through symbol opening edge portions preferably partially overlying and preferably partially edge pressure engaging the reflectors, the information symbols such as letters, numbers and arrows having a multiplicity of spaced reflectors, and the border symbols being elongated and also having said spaced reflectors. The sign is assembled by removing the release paper from the symbols and adhesively adhering the symbols to a finished front face of a sign panel, the information symbols being positioned inwardly of a sign panel border portion and the border symbols being positioned at the sign panel border portion circumscribing the information symbols.
