  • Patent number: 4106879
Abstract: A knockover roadway marker post has a base fixable to the ground by means of a stake or the like and having a flat upper surface provided with an upwardly tapering prismatic formation with a non-regular polygonal cross-section at its base. An upright post element comprises an outer reflector-carrying tube snugly fitted over an insert forming at the lower end of the outer tube a downwardly open recess which is congruent to and fittable over the formation of the base with the lower end of the post engaging the flat upper surface of the base around the formation thereof. A tension spring is hooked between the apex of the upwardly tapering formation and the upper end of the insert and is constantly under tension so as to pull the upper post part tightly down onto the base, and to return it to this position should it be knocked over.

  • Patent number: 4103445
Abstract: A portable sign assembly comprising a rigid knockdown frame and a flexible display web. In a collapsed condition elements of the sign assembly afford a relatively small package size which is conveniently handled and economically shipped. The sign is quickly assembled and disassembled by simple manipulation of the frame elements. In accordance with an important aspect of the invention, the display web is provided with relatively high elastic elongation properties and the frame is arranged to slightly stretch the web to thereby completely tension it and ensure that it is drawn into a planar configuration.

  • Patent number: 4085762
Abstract: A folding, rigid tent-like structure useful for a variety of play purposes can be constructed so as to utilize a pair of sides. These sides have top edges which are preferably connected by a connector and appropriate hinges so that the sides may be pivoted relative to one another. A pair of bottom walls are located between these sides adjacent to the bottom edges of these sides. The bottom walls have pivotally connecting adjacent edges and side edges which are pivotally connected to the sides. At least one folding link structure is secured to the sides beneath the bottom wall. This folding link structure serves to support the bottom walls against sagging. The tent-like structure may be folded to a flat position by concurrently folding the link structure between the sides and folding the bottom walls so that they are adjacent to one another between the sides as the sides themselves are pivoted so as to be adjacent to one another.

  • Patent number: 4081119
Abstract: A carrying case for transporting an article in an upright condition is described including a deep box having a front wall, a rear wall, a pair of side walls, a bottom, and defining an upwardly opening chamber therein. Advantageously, the case includes a laterally positionable holding apparatus which is secured to the box within the chamber for engagement with the opposite edges of the article and for holding it in spaced relation away from the front and rear walls. The case also includes a handle for carrying it and supporting it as a working surface, and a removable cover that serves as a tray.

  • Patent number: 4077144
Abstract: A warning panel trailer in which the warning panel, with the plurality of discrete electrical image display means, is raised to various operative positions along a column support and lowered to an inoperative position in an elongated seat on top of a platform of the trailer. The seat extends between the front and back of the trailer so that the travelling trailer stores the warning panel with an edge facing the direction of travel and the plane of the panel facing away from such direction of travel. The warning panel is lowered and raised by a winched cable which turns around a lower pulley assembly adjacent the platform of the trailer and an upper, pivotally mounted pulley assembly which rotates with the warning panel when selectively positioning the warning panel.

  • Patent number: 4071969
Abstract: Display elements are used to convey a distinct and demonstrative impression of an article and/or an advertising offer. Thus, this element serves for advertising purposes and must have a correspondingly attractive appearance. However, for convenient storage and transportation, the element should occupy a minimum of space. Consequently, this invention relates to a collapsible or foldable display element with at least one display carrier for the visible support of the displayed article. Supports arranged on both sides serve for setting the element up on a surface. High dimensional rigidity and attractive appearance are imparted to this display element by providing that this element consists at least partially of tubular members fashioned as a flat sleeve or as a three-dimensional, collapsible unit. By hinged connection of the individual parts, a high spatial concentration is attained with a concomitantly simple manipulation when setting up the element.

  • Patent number: 4071970
Abstract: An integral hinge is described which is adapted to be used in conjunction with a roadside post safety breakaway system for sign panels and the like. The integral hinge plate is generally rectangular in configuration and planar and is provided with a notch or groove extending thereacross which represents a weakened line portion about which the two halves of the hinge may bend or at which point the hinge may be severed in tension. The hinge plates are fixedly mounted on opposite sides of each of the posts supporting the sign panel or the like. The material and configuration of the hinge plates and the notches or weakened line portions are selected to cause the hinge plates mounted on the impact side of the posts to rupture at the notches or weakened line portions while causing the hinge plates mounted on the side of the post opposite to the impact side to bend.
