  • Patent number: 6543162
Abstract: A money pocket adapted to be selectively fastened to the internal surface of a greeting card is provided. In a first embodiment, the money pocket includes a sheet of material having front and rear surfaces, a top edge, a bottom edge, and a pair of side edges. A continuous or discontinuous adhesive bead or strip is located adjacent the bottom and side edges. The adhesive strip is covered by a cover strip to prevent the adhesive from inadvertently becoming stuck to another object. In use, the cover strips are removed from the adhesive strip(s) and the back surface of the money pocket is secured to the inner surface of a greeting card. Since there is no adhesive adjacent the top edge of the money pocket, the top edge defines an opening to a pocket into which money or checks can be securely positioned. Alternately, the money pocket may include first and second sheets of material which together define a pocket.

Abstract: A device, system, and method for labeling three-dimensional objects. A sheet comprising at least one tag, each tag consisting of a thin piece of resilient, print-treated polyester, or other material, and a method of attaching the tag to a three-dimensional object, such as a glass or plastic vial, is described. The tag identifies each individual object, and permits transfer of the object throughout a series of analytical processes without losing object identity. The tag is marked by offset printing, laser engraving, or another marking process such that the marking does not become unreadable during handling and testing. Labeling of individual objects is accomplished by inserting an object through an aperture in the tag resulting in the tag being attached to the vial. Removal of the vial from the sheet causes the tag to be separated from the sheet and to remain attached to the vial. Alternatively, a sheet holder, such as a rack, could be used to hold the sheet of tags during the labeling process.

Abstract: The present invention is that of a new and improved apparatus for assisting a blind or visually impaired person in locating a shampoo bottle or other bottle located within a shower. The apparatus would be a plurality of small adhesive tags attached to each other but allowing a user to separate them by incorporated perforations. Each of the tags would have a plurality of incorporated raised bubbles on its front surface. The back surface would include a peel-away backing, which would cover a sticky coating on the back surface of the small adhesive tags until the small adhesive tags would be ready for use. Each bubble on each of the adhesive tags would be manufactured to include a micro-suction cup top-mounted on each bubble, providing the user with a more secure grip. The plurality of adhesive tags would be designed to come in a roll and would be packaged within a roll dispenser box, with the roll of adhesive tags connected to and surrounding a roller located inside the roll dispenser box.

  • Patent number: 6352287
Abstract: A planar form or structure is used to create a thin card capable of receiving and retaining printed indicia, including written signatures, on both opposing surfaces. The structure and related method allow the exposed carrier surface and the underlying release agent layer to receive and retain printed indicia, including written signatures, while retaining an extremely thin, yet tear-resistant, card structure. The release agent layer solidifies from a liquid to form a film capable of receiving and retaining printed indicia, written signatures, and the like which may be printed or written upon through the peeling away of the transparent lamina layer to expose the underlying release agent layer for receiving the indicia. The resulting structure preferably exhibits a flexibility due to its thickness lying within the range of 15-30 microns plus the thickness of the carrier.

Abstract: Accidental surgical procedures are sometimes performed on patients' limbs, tissue and/or other body parts. These surgical mistakes are tragic for the patient and cost hundreds of millions of dollars each year in lawsuits and damage awards against doctors, hospitals and/or other health care providers. Media attention has exposed this disturbing trend, but there has been no practical solution to the problem until the advent of the present invention.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for constructing a rotatable label and attaching the rotatable label to a container. The rotatable label system includes an inner label attached to the container and a rotatable outer label. The inner label may have adhesive on a rear surface of a trailing end alone, or it may have adhesive on a rear surface of both the leading and trailing end for fixedly attaching it to a container. The outer label only has adhesive on a rear surface of a trailing end to secure the outer label to itself. A leading end is temporarily affixed to the container while the outer label is wrapped around the container. Once the trailing end is attached to a front surface of the leading end, the outer label can be rotated about the container over the inner label. Longitudinal movement of the outer label relative to the container may be restricted by disposing the outer label between top and bottom label panels formed on the container.

  • Patent number: 6295747
Abstract: The present device provides a baggage tag attachable to the handle of a piece of baggage for displaying indicia of the identification and destination of a passenger owning the baggage. The tag has a first or base ply and a second tear resistant ply or liner. The underside faces of the base ply and tear resistant liner are arraigned for engagement with one another. An adhesive is disposed between the base ply and the liner for releasably sealing them together. It is preferred that a release coating be applied to the underside face of the liner. This allows the removal of the liner from the adhesive layer, allowing the adhesive to remain with the base ply. The base ply and liner each have cuts proximate one end thereof defining a claim stub. Upon removal of the claim stub, a length of the underside face of the base ply adjacent the base ply cut is exposed with the adhesive permitting the to tag ends to be secured around a bag handle.
