Abstract: An improved printing support and method for use in a conventional dry lettering printing machine of the type having a print station, a rotatable printing support having print characters thereon, and means for causing the machine to execute a print cycle which includes providing a color carrying ribbon and image carrying tape at the print station, aligning the ribbon, tape, and a selected print character at the print station for printing, exerting a printing force at the print station, and reciprocating the tape cartridge to advance the tape and ribbon to print the next character at the print station. The improvement comprises inverting the print characters relative to a readable orientation so that when the characters are printed on a first tape surface and the tape is inverted, the characters appear in the correct sequence and orientation when viewed through the tape from a second tape surface opposite the first. The tape will thus be readable when inverted and placed on the underside of a transparent sheet.
Abstract: A printing apparatus is provided which utilizes rolling pressure contact for printing, and includes a plurality of sets of serially arranged character elements mounted for movement on the external surface of a printing drum. Movement of the sets to place a desired character into printing position is accomplished by controlling the speed of a motor driving a pulley connected by cable to a given character set, relative to the speed of a motor driving the printing drum in rotational movement.

Abstract: The printer is included in an apparatus for depositing valuables in envelopes, which are conveyed to a depositor at a constant speed. The printer includes a type wheel inked by a removable inking roller and selectively rotatable by a stepping motor, each time from the angular position of the previous printed character.A guiding roller normally holds the envelope distanced from the type wheel and is removed at a constant rate for causing the envelope to be printed. In the interval between two subsequent character printing operations the envelope is advanced one letter space, whereas the type wheel has time to be rotated at least one revolution.
Abstract: A printer having clutches for selectively transmitting the driving power from a single motor to a rotary shaft for rotating the type wheels and to a hammer drive shaft for driving a hammer is described. The clutches are under the control of a single controlling member so that the typing operation can be accomplished by the power furnished by a single motor having a shaft which need rotate continuously in one direction only.

Abstract: A constant printing pressure mechanism for a portable label printing and applying machine; the machine has a printing head which is interlocked with a hand lever and it has a platen that carries a label strip disposed opposite to the printing head, the constant pressure mechanism comprises: a constant pressure means to turn the platen up against the type faces of the printing head with a constant pressure in synchronism with the downward movement of the printing head, and a means to release the platen slightly from the printing head immediately after the printing operation.
Abstract: A recording medium feeding apparatus for printer is disclosed wherein a web of a recording medium is fed and taken up by a take up reel. A web feeding mechanism and a reel driving mechanism are operated through a coupling means by a spring means in which energy is stored by a common driving means.
