Abstract: A serial impact printer comprising a support frame, a platen mounted for rotation upon the support frame, a print element having character imprinting portions disposed thereon, a print element selector for moving the print element to position a selected character imprinting portion at a printing position, a marking ribbon and a lift-off ribbon. A hammer for moving a selected character imprinting portion for deforming the platen with a printing force, and means for moving the hammer toward and away from the platen. Each ribbon is selectively positionable between the print element and the platen. A carriage mounted for reciprocating movement generally parallel to the platen supports thereon the print element, the print element selector, the marking and lift-off ribbons, means for positioning the ribbons, means for advancing the marking ribbon, the hammer, and the means for moving the hammer. Abstract: An electronic typewriter having a single detector switch for detecting whether a lid over a printing mechanism is open or closed and whether a carriage is in the original position or not. The detector switch is stimulated by two stimulators; one being provided on the lid for stimulating the detector switch when the lid is closed, and the other being provided on the carriage for stimulating the detector switch when the carriage is at the original position.
Abstract: A single solenoid is connected to a ribbon feed mechanism which is selectively operable either to feed a print ribbon or to lift and feed an error correction tape. A print hammer solenoid is operable to condition the ribbon feed mechanism either for feeding the print ribbon or lifting and feeding the error correction tape. To feed the print ribbon, an electronic circuit energizes the print hammer solenoid before energizing the ribbon feed solenoid in response to depressing a character key. To lift and feed the error correction tape, the electronic circuit energizes the print hammer solenoid after energizing the ribbon feed solenoid in response to depressing a correction key.
Abstract: A printer for an electric cash register or the like which performs at least two print related functions. The printer includes a printing head adapted for lateral displacement across a printing paper for effecting printing on the paper. The printer also includes a drive mechanism for effecting the lateral displacement of the printing head and a paper feeding mechanism for advancing the printing paper. The printer may also include a stamping mechanism, an automatic receipt paper cutting mechanism and a journal paper winding mechanism. Each of these mechanisms includes a control lever for actuating the operation thereof. A displaceable selecting lever is arranged and constructed to selectively operate each of the control levers. A single electromagnet controls the operation of the selecting lever.

Abstract: In an extra-small sized printer of the so called serial type, which prints one character every time a type wheel is shifted by a distance corresponding to one character in the direction of the line of typing, the simplification of a driving source as well as the simplification of the overall mechanism are accomplished by a modification of the system.
Abstract: The printing unit includes a daisy wheel typecarrier tranversely movable with respect to the paper. The various operations and printing functions are actuated by electronic means controlled by a mechanical memory, which through an electromechanic transducer causes a set of electronic controls to selectively control a set of linkages.
