Including A Drive Member Engageable With Line-space Ratchet Wheel Patents (Class 400/564)
  • Patent number: 4958949
Abstract: The present invention relates to a drive element of typewriters or similar office machines where the movement of the platen is derived from the movement of the carriage. In the past numerous drive elements have been required in devices of this type, which required a considerable assembly effort and bearing effort. In contrast hereto the drive element proposed is formed in one piece as a one-armed lever which is rotatably disposed coaxially with the platen and with the line space wheel disposed thereon and which has at least one ratchet which is in operative contact with the line space wheel. A displacement element disposed on the carriage of the machine comes into operative contact with the one-armed lever within a set movement range of the carriage and pivots it, so that the turning of the platen takes place by means of the ratchet.

  • Patent number: 4621933
Abstract: A line spacing mechanism for printing machines comprises an electric motor which is operable to rotate selectively in either direction. A worm on the shaft of the motor meshes with a helicoidally toothed wheel to cause a platen roller to rotate in the clockwise direction or the anticlockwise direction. The motor is support pivotally by trunions and urged by a spring to eliminate radial play between the worm and toothed wheel. Another spring, lever and ball apply thrust to the motor shaft to take up axial play in its bearing, i.e. between the worm and the motor.

  • Patent number: 4188138
Abstract: The printer includes at least a receipt paper feeding and printing mechanism and a journal paper feeding and printing mechanism each operated in synchronism by a control circuit. A mechanical switching means is provided in either one of the receipt and journal paper feeding and printing mechanism adapted to be operated for rendering it to be inoperative and a switch is provided connecting the one of the receipt and journal paper feeding and printing mechanism to the control circuit. The switch is operatively coupled with the switching means so that, when the one of the receipt and journal paper feeding and printing mechanisms is rendered to be inoperative by the switching means, the switch is opened so as to electrically disconnect the one of the receipt and journal paper feeding and printing mechanism from the control circuit.
