Including Programmed-control-system For Record-medium Feed (e.g., On Auxiliary Record) Patents (Class 400/582)
  • Patent number: 7014378
Abstract: High accuracy is achieved in paper feed control without increasing the size of an encoder, which would result in an increase in cost. The velocity of a paper feeding mechanism is calculated from an edge signal that is generated by the encoder in response to the motion of the paper feeding mechanism. Based on the calculated velocity, a calculation is performed as to the time needed to reach a stop position since a detection of an encoder signal edge immediately before the stop position. Based on the calculated time, a control signal for stopping the paper feeding mechanism is generated.

Abstract: In the first print sequence, recording paper is conveyed in a printing direction. When the recording paper is conveyed to a target conveyance amount during the conveyance, a yellow image is printed. Then, the return sequence is performed. While conveying the recording paper in a supplying direction, ultraviolet rays is irradiated on the recording paper to fix a yellow image. During the fixing operation, the recording paper is returned by additionally considering the correction amount of conveyance according to the conveyance speed. In the return sequence, the recording paper is conveyed to the target conveyance amount to print a magenta image. Then the magenta image is fixed in the second return sequence. The recording paper is set in consideration of the conveyance speed during fixing the magenta image. After that, a cyan image is printed. Consequently, the printing position of each primary color becomes coincident.

  • Patent number: 6960037
Abstract: An ink jet head is fed in a main-scan direction to record one line on a recording paper. Thereafter, the recording paper is fed in a sub-scan direction for one line. A corrected feeding amount A is calculated by adding a correction value C1 to a basic feeding amount B. The correction value C1 is determined by a formula, C1=2·D·(R?½), wherein p represents an interval between dots recorded on recording paper in the sub-scan direction, and k represents a range of unevenness in the feeding amount caused by structural factors of sub-scan feeding means. For example, D=(p?k)/2. R is a random number in a range between 0 and 1. Gradation unevenness and/or black and white streaks caused by periodical feeding unevenness become inconspicuous since the correction value C1 is changed on a random basis.

A relationship exists between a commanded indexing operation of the roller and resultant indexing of a first type of print receiving medium. A type of print receiving medium is supplied to the media indexing system. The type of the print receiving medium is generally identified. A desired amount by which the print receiving medium should be indexed is identified. A commanded indexing operation of the roller to index by the desired amount is modified based on the type of the print receiving medium and the relationship. • Patent number: 6732645
Abstract: In a first printing process in Steps S1 through S6, ink supply is controlled so that a measured printed density (Vn) is approximately equal to a first target density (V1). This provides a uniform amount of ink remaining on ink rollers after the first printing process. Thereafter, in a second printing process in Steps S7 through S11, printing is performed using a second target density (V2) lower than the first target density (V1). This provides a slightly reduced, uniform amount of ink remaining on the ink rollers. Thus, a novel method of presetting ink is provided which facilitates the formation of a distribution of the new amount of ink at the beginning of the next printing operation and which stabilizes the early start of printing.

  • Patent number: 6719396
Abstract: A unit heat value Qpass (=Ipass2·tpass) per pass is calculated from a current value (an effective current value) Ipass of a carriage motor with one pass of a carriage (one-way running in a reciprocation) and a moving time (a motor driving time) tpass of the carriage. Then, the unit heat value Qpass is successively calculated to obtain a heat value Qsigma for a unit time Tbox(=one minute). The heat value Qsigma is converted into a heat generation temperature &Dgr;Tnew. The heat generation temperature &Dgr;Tnew is successively added in consideration of a spontaneous radiation with the passage of time to obtain a current heat generation temperature &Dgr;Tsum (&Dgr;Tsum=K·&Dgr;Tsum+&Dgr;Tnew; K is a radiation factor). When &Dgr;Tsum exceeds a threshold, a pause time for one pass of the carriage is provided.

  • Patent number: 6715945
Abstract: A printing apparatus includes an image reader for reading an image on a printed paper sheet to obtain image data, and a controller for controlling the image reader to obtain image data about a color chart including solid patches once for every predetermined number of printed sheets or at every predetermined time interval which is inputted and set. The controller processes the image data to compute a printed density of each solid patch. Measurement data including the printed density are sequentially stored in a storage section in association with the number of printed sheets or time. The measurement data stored in the storage section may be displayed by a display section or outputted to a print section in the form of history data indicating measurement data transitions. Thus, the printing apparatus including a device for measuring printed sheets can perform history management on the measurement data for every predetermined number of printed sheets or at every predetermined time interval.

Abstract: An ink jet head is fed in a main-scan direction to record one line on a recording paper. Thereafter, the recording paper is fed in a sub-scan direction for one line. A corrected feeding amount A is calculated by adding a correction value C1 to a basic feeding amount B. The correction value C1 is determined by a formula, C1=2·D·(R−½), wherein p represents an interval between dots recorded on recording paper in the sub-scan direction, and k represents a range of unevenness in the feeding amount caused by structural factors of sub-scan feeding means. For example, D=(p−k)/2. R is a random number in a range between 0 and 1. Gradation unevenness and/or black and white streaks caused by periodical feeding unevenness become inconspicuous since the correction value C1 is changed on a random basis.

  • Patent number: 6655865
Abstract: An area on the printing sheet which can be printed through a single scanning operation of a printing head is divided into a plurality of smaller areas. The printing sheet is transported a distance corresponding to each divided area to print the image using different nozzles of the printing head for each divided area. When a back end portion of the printing sheet is printed, the distance transported is reduced to set inoperative nozzles that are not used for the printing operation. Then, when the printing sheet slips out from the upstream roller pair and it is then detected that the printing sheet is to be transported a distance longer than predetermined amount of rotation of the roller, the inoperative nozzles are used to shift an operative nozzle range depending on the extra amount of rotation. Thus, the extra transportation of the printing sheet is corrected.
