Abstract: A method of forming words utilizing a character actuator unit in which the character actuators are segregated into certain categories. First and second categories are employed and activated simultaneously to generate the beginning and ending of a word. First and second actuating categories may be combined with third and fourth categories of actuators to further form and modify words in any languages.
Abstract: A keyboard for recording and/or reproducing written information according to the principle of the so-called word typewriter is disclosed. The keyboard has a group of vowel keys in the center thereof, to the left thereof a group of initial consonant keys and to the right thereof a group of final consonant keys. The keyboard of the invention is characterized in that the group of initial consonant keys and the group of final consonant keys both contain substantially all of the consonants and that there are three columns of vowel keys with the center row of keys being hexagonally shaped and the keys in each adjacent column being pentagonally shaped.
Abstract: A word processing apparatus is capable of logotype printing with a standard dot matrix pattern, and is controlled as to provide zero spacing between characters at logotype printing.
Abstract: A pocket-size check writing device is disclosed with a means for positioning a check form in a writing position having a number of predetermined writing types composed of individual symbol elements and with a manually operable device for actuating the writing type and reproducing the symbols of the writing type such that each writing type is constructed as a mosaic writing head with the symbol elements being independent of one another and individually controllable and being disposed in relating to one another such that they can be assembled in groups for the predetermined writing symbols in such a format that at each writing location one mosaic writing head is immovably disposed and has an arrangement whereby a keyboard reproduces the writing symbols and a control unit is provided which associates individual mosaic writing heads with an appropriate set of keys.
Abstract: Apparatus for printing characters on at least one data carrier comprising a printing head movable along the data carrier, a line advance device for feeding the data carrier substantially perpendicular to the moving direction of the printing head, an ink ribbon feed mechanism for feeding an ink ribbon in relation to the data carrier, a cut-off mechanism for cutting off the data carrier, and a shaft rotatable less than 360.degree. in one direction by a reversible motor from a home position to an end position determined by the selected operation cycle and thereafter back to the home position by reversing the direction of rotation of the shaft. The reversal of the shaft is performed at different times during subsequent operation cycles to permit gears and cams on the shaft to move the printing head to positions determined by the number of characters to be printed on the data carrier, actuation of the line advance device, and actuation of the ink ribbon feed mechanism or cut-off mechanism.
Abstract: A toy simulating a typewriter for enabling a child to compose a large number of sentences from a limited number of words, the toy having a keyboard with a plurality of keys, each key having a word imprinted thereon. A carriage is provided with paper receiving imprints of the words from hinged type arms operable upon depression of the keys, depression of one of the keys performing the imprinting operation and release of the key actuating a spacer frame coacting with an indexing bar for incrementing the carriage under force of a spring a predetermined distance.
