  • Patent number: 4077725
Abstract: A shoe polish applicator having a reusable handle-equipped body and a single-use polish-impregnated applicator pad. The pad is normally sealed in a protective wrapper which may be opened to expose the porous surface of the impregnated pad after that pad has been attached to a supporting head portion of the applicator body. Following use of the device, the pad may be ejected from the head portion into any suitable waste receptacle. The steps of attaching the pad to the head portion of the applicator body, the opening of the wrapper, the applying of polish, and the ejecting of the used pad from the applicator body may all be accomplished without touching the polish-releasing surface of the pad with the hands and without applying polish to any surfaces not intended to be so treated. The applicator as disclosed also includes, as part of the handle portion thereof, a hollow cartridge equipped with an applicator tip and containing a suitable liquid for dressing the edges of the soles and heels of shoes.

  • Patent number: 4039261
Abstract: A disposable toothbrush molded from a flexible plastic material and having a brush head carried at one end of a handle. The brush head has a paste-holding cavity and a plurality of hollow bristles molded in and extending from one side of the brush head such that the interiors of the hollow bristles communicate with the paste-holding cavity. A sealing film which functions to maintain the paste within the cavity is punctured upon manual compression of the brush head, such that paste may be squeezed through the hollow bristles to the top end thereof for use. In the second embodiment of the invention the bristle head is disclosed as being separable from the handle.

  • Patent number: 4030845
Abstract: A toothbrush having a removable brush which includes dentifrice applied to the bristles of the brush. An elongated base is removably mounted to one end of a toothbrush handle. The handle may be disposable and reusable. A plurality of upstanding straight flexible bristles extend upright from the top surface of the base and are arranged in a plurality of spaced apart rows. A plurality of flexible loop-configured bristles are fixedly mounted to the base and extend upwardly from the top surface thereof being arranged in lines interspaced between the rows of straight bristles. Each loop-configured bristle defines and encloses an area in which dentifrice is positioned. In one embodiment, adhesive is provided to secure the base to the handle whereas in another configuration, a pair of opposed clips mounted to the handle are removably engaged with the opposite ends of the base.

  • Patent number: 3998559
Abstract: A fountain applicator includes a flexible polyurethane foam head having cemented to its top face a frangible film to which is cemented along its border an upwardly directed liquid reservoir having a bottom opening and divided into a pair of compartments by a pair of medial panel walls converging downwardly to a transverse apex. The film may be ruptured selectively by controlled pressing the film against the apex by pressing in the sponge head. In another form the medial conveying walls are united and a central opening is formed in the film which need not be frangible and has a passageway between the sponge head and the film extending between the opening and the edge of the reservoir. A flexible band extends along the passageway and has its inner end folded under and joined to the border of the opening by pressure sensitive adhesive.
