With Work-engaging Guide Patents (Class 401/193)
  • Patent number: 4204693
Abstract: A device for waxing skis comprises a rectangular metal block forming a base-plate having ribs extending along the side edges and upstanding above the upper surface. A metal end plate is fixed to one end so as to protrude above the upper surface and below the lower surface of the base-plate. A plurality of shallow grooves in the end edge adjacent the end plate extends between the lower surface and upper surface and diverges toward the latter in width and depth. The base-plate also carries a handle assembly projecting upwardly away from the end opposite to the end plate. The upper surface of the base-plate together with the side ribs and end plate define a recess for containing melted wax which passes through the grooves when being applied and spreads evenly over the running surface of the ski. A guide member is disposed along one side of the base-plate and protrudes downwardly so as to be adapted to engage an edge of the ski during the waxing operation.

  • Patent number: 4166626
Abstract: A record cleaning device for cleaning, conditioning and rendering the surface of a phonograph record substantially static-free is disclosed. The device comprises an elongated arm member having a cleaning brush disposed on one side thereof. The cleaning brush is adapted to engage and clean the surface of a record so as to remove dirt and other undesirable material therefrom. A valve is disposed on the other side of the arm member for regulating the flow of a cleaning fluid through the arm member and to the cleaning brush. In this manner, cleaning, as well as conditioning of the phonograph record is achieved. Further, it has been found that the device applies the cleaning fluid in such a manner as to render the surface of the record substantially static-free. A rotatable member is also coupled to the arm member adjacent the valve such that the device can be selectively rotated about the record to be cleaned in an easy and efficient manner.

  • Patent number: 4135651
Abstract: A device for applying a plurality of spaced beads or ribbons of cementitious material, such as mortar, to a course of masonry units being laid as a wall or the like. A frame member is provided for supporting a plurality of dispensing beads or nozzles that have containers or hoppers associated therewith for delivering mortar to said nozzles in the laying of a ribbon or bead of mortar on a row of bricks or cement blocks. The frame member is also provided with guide members to insure the proper laying of the ribbon or bead of mortar.

  • Patent number: 4106965
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a tire such that the tire has a visible contrasting reference line consisting of a die line ridge produced coincidentally with the extrusion of the tread of the tire and a color contrasting ink applied to the peak surface of the die line ridge by a particularly described inking apparatus. The reference line so produced enables objective visual comparison of the position of the reference line relative to the position of the parting line visible in the cured tire as removed from the mold such that deviations of the reference line with respect to the parting line clearly indicate a tire having an objectionable dissymmetry with respect to its equatorial plane and such that the tire can be removed from the production stream. The reference line so produced and particularly the die line ridge have advantages over previously employed centerline tracking methods and apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4055384
Abstract: The portable apparatus for cementing edges of lengths of sheet material in adherent relationship over a roof comprises a horizontally oriented base structure having contact means at its lower surface for applying pressure upon the sheet material. The base structure has one substantially straight lateral side which is located adjacent and parallel to an imaginary vertical plane. The apparatus includes a brush member for applying cementing fluid underneath an edge of sheet material. The bristles of the brush member are at an angle of between about 90.degree. and 140.degree. with respect to the main body of the ferrule in which the heel end of the bristles are retained. A ferrule holder holds the main body of the ferrule of the brush member in vertical orientation next to the aforenoted imaginary vertical plane at a location forwardly beyond the leading edge of the base structure, with the bristles of the brush member extending away from the imaginary vertical plane.

  • Patent number: 3957406
Abstract: A multi-port applicator for supplying bonding and sealing material(s), for instance to elongated channels and/or recesses, and to members for fitting within channels. The applicator comprises at least two heatable heads in tandem, the trailing head having an orifice arranged for depositing molten thermoplastic on the same or other adhesive material supplied by a preceding or leading head orifice. Opposite sides of the heads are of configuration complemental to the walls defining the space to be filled, for example the peripheral channel of a double glazed unit. The trailing head may include a smoothing follower to shape the deposited material while it is still soft and insure a substantially uniform depth of total deposit.
