Liquid may be drawn into the reservoir by powered or manual retraction of the piston and liquid may be delivered from the reservoir to an applicator head by powered or manual motion of the piston into the reservoir.

The apertures are closed in normal conditions and will be opened under pressure. Paint is accumulated in a paint chamber between the first and second housing halves, and then will flow out only when the paint pressure is greater than a deformation threshold value of the non-permeable resilient body. Furthermore, since the apertures are very small and can be evenly and densely distributed over the resilient body, paint will be evenly permeated to the permeable foamed body and the brush layer.

    Abstract: A porous applicator for skin sealant has a container of skin sealant held within the applicator. When the skin sealant is released, it flows to a dispensing end of the applicator. The dispensing end has a slot through which the skin sealant is dispensed, however, a roller is rotatably held within a portion of the slot. The roller is porous, in that it has at least one, and desirably a plurality of openings formed through the roller. The skin sealant flows through the slot and through the opening(s) in the roller, so that when the roller is stroked against a patient's skin, the skin sealant is uniformly dispensed on a patient's skin. Pressure applied by a user when applying the skin sealant on a patient's skin does not result in abrasions on the patient's skin from the dispensing end of the applicator.

    Abstract: A paint roller (10) has a paint applicator (12), two holder mounts an applicator holder (14). The paint applicator (12) has a cylindrical outer surface and two opposite ends (18a, 18b). The two holder mounts, respectively associated with the two opposite ends (18a, 18b), each has a base surface (24) and a journal (26) that protrudes from the surface (24) away from the paint applicator (12). The applicator holder (14) has a handle (40) and a fork (42) with opposite sides (44,48) that each has a journal engagement portion (48,50). In a preferred embodiment, each of the holder mounts has holder abutments (30) that protrude from the surface (24) away from the paint applicator (12). In an alternate embodiment, the applicator holder (14) has applicator abutments that protrude from mount abutment surfaces of each of two journal engagement portions towards the paint applicator (12).

    Abstract: A method for improving strength of the finished product in paint roller manufacturing processes and other continuous processes for producing tubular goods from polymers. The method utilizes a substrate such as a polypropylene strip with grooves on its surface. The grooved substrate is fed onto a mandrel to form a tube. Adhesive is applied upon the grooved surface of the grooved substrate. A cover may be applied about the tube, and the resulting product is then cut into finished-size paint rollers. The hardened adhesive in the grooves may operate to reduce the hoop-force which would otherwise tend to unwind the wound substrate. The method in certain embodiments provides a reduction in cost and weight of the finished product.
