The first and second end portions of each receptacle body are formed with a coupling member and a connecting member, respectively. The applicator device has a base portion that engages the connecting member on the first receptacle body. The end cap has a tubular cap wall that cooperates with the base portion of the applicator device to define a receiving space for receiving a cosmetic applicator therein. The coupling unit engages removably the coupling members of the first and second receptacle bodies.

The front section defines a chamber for holding ball point pen cartridges which are extendable one at a time through an opening in the front section writing tip disposed at one end of the front section. The opposite end or back of the front section is open and forms a sleeve for receiving the rear section. The rear section is bilaterally symmetric with a non-marking stylus at one end and one of a fountain pen tip, a rolling ball tip, a felt-tip marker tip, or a gel ink tip extending through a writing tip at the opposite end of the rear section. The pen end-segment, which is threadably detachably connected to the pencil end-segment, encloses a replaceable unit including a magazine for ink and a ball point writing member.

According to the invention, the cam has an upper, substantially vertical portion which allows the lead of the mechanical pencil to be pushed out from the supporting element by urging the cam axially downwardly whereby the cam follower associated with the other writing element can slide adjacent to the vertically extended cam portion, the cam being fixed to a housing element which can rotate and axially move with the cam element.
