In Or Contiguous To Feed Path Patents (Class 401/229)
  • Patent number: 9872557
Abstract: A delivery tip for flowable materials with bristles or fibers extending therefrom. The tip is a cannula with a tapered outlet and features a bristle or fiber bundle with a binding restriction member that interfaces with the cannula at some point within the cannula but has a smaller cross-sectional area for flow passage than the cannula at that point. The bristle or fiber bundle extends out of the tapered outlet. The delivery tip may connect to a material reservoir with flowable material. When positive pressure is applied to the reservoir, material then will flow through the cannula, around the restriction member, into the bristles or fibers and out the outlet for distribution to a desired surface.

  • Patent number: 5372445
Abstract: A writing unit for a cartridge fountain pen comprising an ink feeder 3, a writing nib 1 mounted to the forward end portion of the ink feeder, and a gripping piece 2 enclosing the rearward end portion of the ink feeder. A capillary gap 3a extends along the longitudinal length of the rearward end portion of the ink feeder and to the writing nib, and an air channel 3c of generally triangular outline overlies the gap 3a. To compensate for an expansion of air in the writing unit caused by temperature fluctuations, a plurality of lamellar collecting chambers 3e are formed in the ink feeder along each side of the capillary gap, with each collecting chamber communicating with one of the two upper corners of the triangular air channel via an overflow capillary 3d. Also, to avoid a dripping or leakage of ink after tapping the cartridge, there is provided a fluid control valve which communicates with one of the two upper corners of the triangular air channel at a location adjacent the writing nib.

  • Patent number: 5030026
Abstract: A leakproof fountain pen with a ballbearing tip includes an upper casing threadedly engaged to an ink flow guide. An ink reservoir has an open end received by an annular base of the ink flow guide. The upper casing combines with the ink flow guide to form a chamber for collecting ink which may flow from the ink reservoir. The ink flow guide further comprises an axial vent hole communicated with the atmosphere; an axial ink hole to serve as a path for ink flowing to and from the chamber and the ink reservoir; and an axial control hole having a flow portion with a bigger diameter. A gravity post is movably disposed inside the flow portion and can block the passage of ink between the ink reservoir and the control hole. A plug unit acts as a support for the gravity post. A first end of the ink flow guide is substantially V-shaped with the lowest point at the opening of the ink hole to direct the collected ink from the chamber towards the ink hole when the pen is held upright.
