Abstract: A rolling support platform device is provided to assist in drawing, marking, writing, etc. The platform device also may be used as a teaching aid and by the handicapped, etc.The device includes a metal or plastic platform having three or more socket-shaped, partial knock-outs and a ball bearing in each socket.Sufficient friction is imparted to a bearing by each socket, thereby producing a smooth rolling action without the problems of over rolling.

Abstract: A plant care kit includes a plurality of elements for cleaning and waxing the leaves of household plants. The leaf cleaner includes a support member for gently supporting the leaf of a plant to be cleaned. A soft, porous cleaning element, such as a sponge or the like, is secured to one surface of the support member for engaging the bottom side of a plant leaf. A handle is mounted on the support member, opposite the cleaning member to facilitate grasping by the user and to allow the user of the device to hold the support member in one hand. The leaf cleaning device further includes a second similar cleaning member such as a sponge or the like that may be held in the other hand of the user and placed on top of the leaf to be cleaned. The leaf is sandwiched between the first and second cleaning members and drawn along the length of the leaf thereby simultaneously wiping the upper and lower surfaces.

Abstract: A vessel mounted for travel on a wheeled axle is adapted to feed hot liquid asphalt through a manifold to an application zone of a roof. The manifold rides on skids which fix its orientation with respect to horizontal. Special devices are mounted to follow the manifold across the application zone to first spread the liquid asphalt across the zone and to then gather and meter the spread asphalt leaving a predetermined quantity per unit area on the roof surface.

Abstract: An attachment for applicators used to apply liquid adhesive to a seam between adjacent edges of floor covering. The attachment comprises a support plate having a generally rectangular main body portion, an integral collar extending upwardly from the top edge thereof, and a pair or cylindrical rollers each rotatably mounted between pairs of projections which extend downwardly from the bottom of the main body portion. The collar of the attachment is adapted to be adjustably mounted on the cylindrical nozzle of a seam sealer dispensing head and held in place thereon by appropriate fastening means. In use, the attachment provides sidewise stabilization for the applicator and a means for setting and maintaining the desired angle thereof relative to the surface of the floor covering as it is moved along the seam therein.

Abstract: A machine for the pouring and spreading of hot asphalt in an even and uniform manner on roof tops, the asphalt spreading machine consisting of an insulated chamber for containing hot asphalt, a piping system with port holes for regulating the flow of hot asphalt from the container on to the roof top, a pit-cock valve and valve control handle for turning on or shutting off the flow of asphalt from the container, an air vent tube to permit draining of the hot asphalt from the system when the machine is turned off, a detachable handle for pulling the machine along the roof top, and a detachable rake and spreading screens for uniformly spreading the asphalt on the roof top, with the detachable features of the machine allowing for storage of the machine in small spaces and also facilitating lifting the machine to the top of a roof.

Abstract: A device for applying a plurality of spaced beads or ribbons of cementitious material, such as mortar, to a course of masonry units being laid as a wall or the like. A frame member is provided for supporting a plurality of dispensing beads or nozzles that have containers or hoppers associated therewith for delivering mortar to said nozzles in the laying of a ribbon or bead of mortar on a row of bricks or cement blocks. The frame member is also provided with guide members to insure the proper laying of the ribbon or bead of mortar.

Abstract: A recess filling mastic applicator having a novel tool-steering means and a straight torsional spring adjustable as to its effective length for causing the tool body to have a four point contact with the surface over which the tool body travels. The interior of the tool body receives mastic and a pressure plate is pivotally mounted in the body and a handle is pivotally connected to the plate so that the operator can press on the handle for not only holding the body against the flat surface but for also depressing the plate for forcing mastic from the tool for filling the recesses in the surface as the tool is moved thereover. Abstract: A floor finish applicator comprises a frame mounted on wheels for movement in any selected direction, a liquid finish storage tank mounted on the frame, a finish applying mechanism adapted to deliver finish from the outlet of the storage tank to the floor, and a finish spreader adapted to spread the finish out into a smooth even finish after it has been applied to the floor. The finish spreader is mounted behind the frame and is movable in a transverse direction with respect to the direction of movement of the frame. The finish spreader is resiliently biased to remain in a predetermined position but is mechanically movable in either transverse direction. A roller is provided at one or both ends of the spreader in order to provide a rolling contact between the finish spreader and the wall of a room being finished. The applicator may be used to apply any type of liquid to a floor, including waxes, varnishes, cleaners or the like.

Abstract: A writing device adapted for use by a handicapped person comprises a lower body member formed with a broad, smooth bottom surface adapted to glide over the surface to be written upon, and a writing instrument carrier hingedly mounted thereon and normally biased yieldingly to hold the writing instrument a short distance away from the device supporting, writing surface, so that a slight downward pressure upon said carrier member causes the writing instrument to contact the surface to be written upon.

Abstract: A joint-taping tool for wallboard (drywall), wherein there is almost no possibility that the cable will break after the piston reaches the top of its stroke, and wherein the operator is immediately and unquestionably informed when adhesive flow ceases. Furthermore, mechanism is provided by which--with minimized action on the part of the operator--the rollers are prevented from spinning and "throwing" adhesive (cement) during filling of the barrel.The tool will not only apply tape and adhesive simultaneously, but is rapidly convertible to deposit adhesive over previously-applied tape. This same conversion spacing option makes it possible to eliminate tape jams quickly and easily. In addition, means are provided for thoroughly cleaning the tool at the end of each day.

Abstract: A tool for applying plaster or other coating materials to a wall comprises a blade with a flat underside and a handle on its upper face, the ends of the blade being adjustably secured to a pair of cheek plates whose lower edges form skids for guiding the trailing edge of the blade at a selected distance from the wall surface to be coated. The front and rear edges of each cheek plate, engaged by slides attached to the blade, are inclined with reference to its bottom edge to maintain the blade at a small angle to the engaged wall surface. The slides of each cheek plate are interconnected by a yoke carrying a micrometric screw for varying the thickness of the coating by relatively displacing the yoke and the cheek plates.

Abstract: The portable apparatus for cementing edges of lengths of sheet material in adherent relationship over a roof comprises a horizontally oriented base structure having contact means at its lower surface for applying pressure upon the sheet material. The base structure has one substantially straight lateral side which is located adjacent and parallel to an imaginary vertical plane. The apparatus includes a brush member for applying cementing fluid underneath an edge of sheet material. The bristles of the brush member are at an angle of between about 90.degree. and 140.degree. with respect to the main body of the ferrule in which the heel end of the bristles are retained. A ferrule holder holds the main body of the ferrule of the brush member in vertical orientation next to the aforenoted imaginary vertical plane at a location forwardly beyond the leading edge of the base structure, with the bristles of the brush member extending away from the imaginary vertical plane.

Abstract: A mortar applying machine including a base supported on rollers adapted to roll along the top of a brick or block wall with one of the rollers being driven to move the machine horizontally along the wall. Guide rollers extend downwardly from the base to engage the sides of the wall to maintain the machine in proper alignment. A hopper is mounted on the base and is angularly adjustable to assist in controlling the flow of mortar therefrom. A vibrator is attached to the hopper to assist in moving the mortar from the hopper. A pair of oppositely extending nozzles project from the hopper to feed the mortar to the side edges of the wall. The hopper and vibrator can be removed as a unit from the machine to apply mortar in positions where the machine cannot be used due to space restrictions. When using the hopper removed from the machine one of the nozzles is blocked so that only one stream of mortar issues from the hopper.

Abstract: A fluid applicator for applying fluid to a surface has a reservoir for fluid. An outlet from the reservoir leads to a roller assembly comprising at least two rollers which are arranged to roll over the surface to be marked so as to apply fluid from the reservoir to the surface in a single line. The roller assembly is removably mounted between side frame members and the surface of each roller is framed by a peripheral sleeve of an absorbent material. The sleeve can then be removed from the applicator for renewal or cleaning.

Abstract: A hopper for mortar is provided with a gate slidable between one position wherein mortar is free to flow downwardly and out of the device and another position wherein the gate blocks the hopper outlet. The flanking walls of the hopper are provided with adjustable supports for striker posts. In use to fill a vertical joint between ends of two adjacent masonry blocks, the supports are adjusted to slightly enter and fully cover the opposite sides of the joint. With the hopper in place over the joint, the gate is slid open and mortar is permitted to flow, until the space between the ends of the two blocks, and between the two striker posts is filled. Then the gate is slid closed. As the device is lifted straight upwards, the striker posts which preferably present convex surfaces toward the mortar, automatically tool the opposite sides of the joint.

Abstract: An apparatus for applying colored lines on ice, in which a roller can be moved over ice in a positive and controllable manner, is provided with at least one wheel having a multiplicity of small protrusions or points on its peripheral surface. The protrusions on the tread of the wheel dig into the ice to give easy traction and thus ensure proper rotation of the roller without undesired swerving slippage.

The assembly also includes means for supporting and laying said tape on the freshly formed layer, as well as pneumatically operated motor and control means for controlling the movements and the sequence of operations of the device.
