Abstract: A media binder has an inner assembly and a case assembly, The inner assembly includes inside boards pre-attached to a binding mechanism. Adhesive is placed on outward surfaces of the inside boards. The case assembly includes a cover sheet with at least one marginal edge attached to surface boards and at least one loose edge. To customize cover, a printed cover is inserted in-between the cover sheet and the surface board through an opening formed by the loose edge. The case assembly is then laminated. The laminated case assembly is combined with the inner assembly using the adhesive on the inside boards. A one-piece media binder has cover sheets wrapping around surface boards forming pockets. The surface boards are partially attached to paste downs. To customize cover, printed covers are inserted into the pockets, and the paste downs are then attached to the surface boards to seal loose edges.

Abstract: A locking ring metal includes binder rings each formed by a pair of complementary shaped binder ring halves. The binder rings are of a gap free construction. Each ring half has an end attached a frame. The frames are movable relative to each other to open and close the binder rings and are installed in a housing at one end of which a trigger is mounted. A travel bar installed within the housing above the frames and not connected to the trigger includes blocking elements which fit into respective brackets formed on the underside of the frames when the binder rings are closed to lock the binder rings in their closed position. A coil spring attached to the travel bar and the housing biases the travel bar in the direction to open the binder rings.

Abstract: A filing strip is of a bendable material. The filing strip has a central elongate anchor strip and a prong extending from each end of the strip. Each prong has a tip portion and an intermediate portion. Each tip portion is narrower than its adjacent intermediate portion. The invention extends to a filing accessory for use with the filing strip, The accessory includes a pair of elongate members. A socket defining element is arranged on an end of each member. Each socket has internal dimensions complementary to the tip portion of the prong and external dimensions which are substantially equal to external dimensions of the intermediate portion of the prong. The invention also extends to a filing accessory for use with a filing strip having a pair of opposed prongs. With this accessory a free end of each socket defining element is chamfered.

Abstract: A binder assembly for catalogs and the like having a base plate provided with opposed side flanges, one of which is fixed and the other of which is hinged. A material-holding device is connected to the hinged flange and is movable to an open position and to a closed position relative to the fixed flange. A latch interconnects the fixed flange and the material-holding device for selectively locking the material-holding device in a closed position, the latch automatically locking the material-holding device in its closed position as the material-holding device is moved to the closed position, and automatically ejecting the material-holding device from its closed position when unlocked. Abstract: An inexpensive polymeric device for releasably retaining a stack of perforated paper, including a pair of rake-like members each comprising a rail supporting projecting studs. The rake-like members are assemblable by inserting studs on each through the paper perforations from opposite sides of the stack and into sockets formed on the other rail to form a ladder-like assembly engaged with the paper. The rails on the ladder-like assembly are slid into close fitting channels defined on a backing strip which extends around the spine edge of the stack to keep the rake-like members in engagement, and are retained therein by end portions of the rails adapted to engage over the ends of the channels. Subsequently a user can squeeze together on cam surfaces on the end portions of the strips to simultaneously disengage them from the ends of the channels and move them into the channels so that the ladder-like assembly can be slid out of the backing strip and disassembled.

Abstract: A loose leaf binder having a pair of separable front and back cover members respectively hinged to relatively rigid interconnecting numbers of L-shaped cross-section adatped to be interfitted in overlapped relation to provide an expansible back for the binder. The L-shaped back-forming members are respectively provided with a lock post and a lock mechanism adapted to be interengaged by rectilinear insertion of the post into the lock mechanism, which latter is provided with a pair of coacting cylindrical rollers designed to frictionally engage and wedge therebetween opposite sides of the post inserted into the lock mechanism. One of said rollers is held rotatably captive in an axially fixed position while the other roller is movable into and out of wedging engagement with said lock post.

Abstract: A stiff plastic sheet is heat-scored on spaced parallel lines to form front and rear binder covers hinged at the score lines to a wide backbone. Two post-mounting units formed of similar plastic sheet material have a base strip along one edge and a post-supporting strip along the other edge, connected by a web which is heat-scored so as to flex at two-spaced flex lines and which is cut away at spaced areas to leave a series of straps between the strips so that together they are more flexible than the cover hinges. The base strips are ultrasonically welded to the covers along the inner edges of the covers so as to hold the post-supporting strips for swinging movement about the flex lines which are spaced outward from the hinge lines between the covers and the backbone.

Abstract: A file for holding perforated sheets is provided adjacent its spine with a pair of spaced apart tubular prongs for cooperation with the sheet perforations. The file is provided at its spine with a leaf spring of which a portion protruding from the inner side of the spine, in the position of use of the file, abuts against the web of a substantially U-shaped wire member, the arms of which engage the tubular prongs to retain the sheets to the tubular prongs. The leaf spring portion protruding from the spine to cooperate with the web of the U-shaped wire member has a tongue integral with the protruding leaf spring portion and directed towards the spine of the file. When the protruding leaf spring portion is caused to abut against the web of the U-shaped wire member, the tongue snaps home under the wire to lock the leaf spring to the U-shaped wire member.
