With Means To Apply Tension Thereto Patents (Class 402/6)
  • Publication number: 20080253827
Abstract: A lever-arch type file mechanism is disclosed as including a base; two rings extending upwardly from the base, each ring including a post fixed to the base and an arch portion movable relative to the base and the post; a lever assembly movable relative to the base between two stable positions to pivot the arch portions relative to the post to selectively move the rings between a ring-closed configuration and a ring-open configuration; in which the lever assembly includes an outer arm and an inner arm, and when the lever assembly is in a first of the two stable positions, the outer arm is movable relative to the inner arm member between an upper position and a lower position.

  • Patent number: 6499766
Abstract: A media folder or book binder provided with a rotor having elastic bands stretched between pins on its opposite ends has mounting brackets which are mechanically fastened to the spine of the folder. The brackets have trunnions facing inwardly toward the opposite ends of the rotor to journal the rotor. An important aspect of the invention is that each bracket is provided with a shroud which inhibits or prevents bands from disengaging with their supporting pins as a folded sheet is removed from or installed on the rotor under a strand of the band. In effect, winding-up of the bands during relative lateral movement of a sheet still occurs, but the adverse twisting affect of enabling the bands to slip off pins is prevented. The folder has straps fixed thereto and preferably formed integrally therewith at opposite ends of the folder's spine. These straps interact with latches on the mounting brackets to firmly hold the brackets in place mechanically.

  • Patent number: 6149200
Abstract: A report cover (100) is disclosed for securing and protecting a report (12). The report cover (10) includes a front panel (102) and a rear panel (104). Three parallel hinges (22, 24, 26) are formed in the front panel (14). A single hinge (36) is formed in the rear panel (16). The report is secured between the front and rear panels near the first edges (20, 34) of the panels as by staples or other removable fasteners. The front panel (14) is then folded about the hinges to lie parallel to and adjacent the rear panel. The rear panel is captured within a pocket portion (106) which permits limited motion of the rear panel (104) relative to the pocket portion (106). To disassemble the report cover and remove the report therefrom, the pocket portion (106) need only be disengaged from the rear panel (104) providing easy access to the fasteners for removal of the fasteners and removal of the report from the report cover.

  • Patent number: 4693624
Abstract: A binding mechanism for the binding of perforated papers, has at least two elastically flexible tangs (5,6). These tangs (5,6) are arranged standing upright on the top side of a flat support strip (1). Their ends are releaseably connected with extension pieces (9,10). In order that the tangs (5,6) with their extension pieces (9,10) can be formed into ring arcs whose size is adaptable between a minimum and a maximum, to the bound paper stack height, the support strip (1) made of plastic has passages (7,8) into which the extension pieces (9,10) can be releaseably and lockingly inserted to different depths. The extension pieces (9,10) consist of separate, likewise flexible, rod or tongue like elements which have at least the same or a greater length than the tangs (5,6). The passages may be provided at their insertion-side ends with a detention edge or with a lock tooth, and the extension pieces with a lock tooth system.
