  • Patent number: 5259821
Abstract: A linear spacing device has first and second elongated components, which may be telescoping hollow tubes, each having linear surfaces engaging each other in sliding relationship. Each component has spaced holes disposed at regular linear intervals along its length. The intervals between the holes through the second component are different than the intervals between the holes through said first component. A pin or similar means is insertable through selected aligned holes through the first and second components to secure them in a selected orientation. Thus the overall length of the spacer can be adjusted in small increments substantially less than the diameter of the holes. The device further includes an extendable linear actuator engageable with a surface of each of the components to extend the overall length of the spacer. The actuator is removable from the device after the components are secured together.

  • Patent number: 4934658
Abstract: A locking mechanism for extendible telescoping tubular members formed with radial, axially aligned openings. The locking mechanism comprises a hollow housing that surrounds the exterior wall of the outer tubular member. The housing is adapted for movement in the axial direction of the telescoping tubular members along the exterior wall of the outer tubular member. Disposed within the housing is at least one spring loaded lever that pivots about a fulcrum in the housing. Fixed to the opposite end portions of the lever, respectively, are oppositely directed plungers. When the radial openings of the telescoping tubular members are in register, the locking plunger enters the registered openings to restrain axial displacement between the telescoping tubular members.

  • Patent number: 4917003
Abstract: A hydraulic cylinder, piston and rod assembly wherein the piston is secured to the rod in an efficient and inexpensive manner. The piston includes a threaded interior which is secured to a corresponding threaded portion on the end of the piston rod. An opening through a portion of the piston is aligned with a recess within the end portion of the piston rod to permit the insertion of a locking pin into the aligned openings. Thereafter, a compression ring, which is pivotally attached to the locking pin, is slipped into a complementary groove that is provided on the exterior periphery of the piston end portion. This provides a positive connection between the rod and piston which tolerates dimensional variations and eliminates play.

  • Patent number: 4884940
Abstract: A connecting link for use on a bucket loader mountable on a tractor to control the pivotal movement of the bucket relative to the mounting frame to which the bucket is attached is disclosed wherein first and second members are telescopically associated to permit a varying of the effective length of the connecting link. A first pin is engageable through a first set of alignable holes through the first and second members to fix the telescopic position of the connecting link in an operative position. The first pin has a size sufficient to withstand the operating forces exerted on the connecting link during operation of the bucket. A second pin is engageable with the first and second members through a second set of alignable holes therethrough to shorten the effective length of the connecting link to a transport position and permit a rollback of the bucket for transport.

  • Patent number: 4869156
Abstract: A controlled environment system and method for constructing same provides for the containment and safe handling of toxic waste materials which are ultimately collected and disposed of without contamination of the external atmosphere. The system generally comprises a frame, a seamless tube-like liner connected to the interior of the frame, at least one air lock disposed within the liner for compartmentalizing the liner, and a negative pressure source for creating a negative-pressure environment within the liner so as to prevent the escape of toxic waste materials therefrom. The invention also includes a unique retainer ring for interconnecting adjacent structural members during assembly, and for rapidly disconnecting the structural members during disassembly without the use of a tool.

  • Patent number: 4792168
Abstract: An adjustable safety block assembly is disclosed which can be used to traverse an opening for a sliding door in order to block it. The assembly consists of inner and outer tubular members which can be telescoped together. One of the tubular members has a series of axially extending rows of holes spaced at even intervals, and staggered around the radius of the two. The other tubular member has groups of evenly axially spaced circumferentially distributed holes radially arranged. The tubular members may be telescoped until the desired length is achieved, and then holes of the inner and outer tubular members aligned so that locking means can be inserted through the aligned holes to fix the tubular members in relative position, to form a rigid bar. Thus, the safety block is easily adjustable to accommodate any patio door widths, and may be disassembled for storage and travel.
