  • Patent number: 10753082
Abstract: This invention is to provide structural member joints capable of easily reinforcing connecting portions of structural members and a structure using the structural member joints. Each structural member joint includes three tubular joint members into which end portions of the structural members 7 can be inserted and fixed. The three tubular joint members are connected to each other at their proximal end portions and disposed at right angles to each other. Since the distal end portions of the joint members 2 arranged at right angles to each other are connected by the reinforcing members 6, it is possible to use the reinforcing members 6 to easily reinforce the connecting portions of the structural members 7.

  • Patent number: 10288096
Abstract: A joint assembly includes a structural body having a key which projects cantilevered from an abutment surface. The key includes a stem with a first stem portion having a reduced transverse encumbrance, and a second stem portion from which fins project and define locking surfaces. A seat body includes an abutment counter-surface facing the abutment surface. A seat is formed by opening from the abutment counter-surface, which delimits a key entry slot. A first seat portion proximate the entry slot allows insertion of the key if the fins are aligned with the entry slot. A second seat portion internal and opposite the entry slot widens to allow free rotation of the key. The seat body forms locking counter-surfaces having an inclined plane portion moving away from the entry slot so that key rotation brings the abutment surface in force-contact against the abutment counter-surface, creating a firm frictional fit.

Abstract: A wheelchair includes a chassis having a pair of side frame assemblies that are rigidly connected to each other by a seat pan. Mounted on each side frame assembly is an interchangeable axle receiving platform for orienting drive wheels at a desired camber angle. One end of a seat member is pivotally attached to a foot member for adjustment of the seating angle. By moving an opposite end of the seat member along a curved portion of a bottom member of each side frame assembly, the seat angle is changed. A one piece caster assembly is disposed forward of the drivewheels on the chassis. Through the one-piece caster assembly, each caster can be simultaneously adjusted to a particular location along the frame.

  • Patent number: 5244001
Abstract: An expandable framework structure can be folded for storage and expanded for use, especially as a canopy when a covering is placed on top of the framework. The framework includes a plurality of upright supports and a plurality of edge scissor assemblies that interconnect adjacent ones of the upright supports. Mounts are disposed on the upright supports to fasten outer, rectangular end portions of the edge scissor assemblies. The mounts have sockets which have facing, parallel sidewall portions to receive the rectangular end portions in close-fitted engagement along planar contact surfaces to resist lateral and torsional deflections of the edge scissor assemblies. A fastening pin pivotally secures the outer end of each edge scissor assemblies in its respective socket. The mounts on each upright support are relatively movable to allow expansion and contraction of the framework; one mount is preferably a stationary mount and the other a slide mount.

  • Patent number: 5203134
Abstract: A pivotal frame connector or pivotal coupler for pivotally attaching two adjacent display structures wherein each of the display structures includes a skeletal frame formed of a network of elongate support rods joined by hub assemblies which provide for articulation of the support rods. The pivotal frame connector includes ends identical in structure to the ends of the support rods to engage those hub assemblies disposed on the periphery of the display frames. These peripheral hub assemblies have empty unused sockets to which the pivotal frame connector is readily attached. The pivotal frame connector is U-shaped and substantially shorter in length than each of the support rods to remain out of sight and out of the way when the display frame is covered by a skin-like aesthetic covering.

  • Patent number: 5190305
Abstract: A luggage hand cart has a luggage supporting platform supported on wheels, with a pair of uprights extending upwardly from the platform at each end. The upper ends of the uprights are compoundly angled to extend inwardly relative to both the ends and sides of the platform and a pair of opposed, molded, generally Y-shaped plastic fittings, each having a base with a pair of projecting leg parts extending at a compound angle from the base outwardly relative to the sides and ends of the platform and downwardly, telescopically receive the upper ends of the uprights. The fittings each have internal wall structure and the longitudinally extending hanger rod then has its ends telescopically secured in the base portions of the fittings in abutting relation with internal wall structure head parts, while the upper ends of the uprights are secured in abutting relation with internal wall structure in the leg parts of the fittings.

  • Patent number: 5165214
Abstract: A space frame of double-layer flat grid type, in which the upper grid is skewed or angularly displaced by 45.degree. relative to the lower grid, has pairs of oblique struts (16) connecting the lower grid nodes (14) to the upper grid nodes (15). At a lower grid node (14) where two chords (10, 11) are superimposed, one pair of oblique struts (16) in a vertical plane through one chord (10) has a common terminal (17) between the two chords (10 and 11). A bolt (22) through the terminals (17) and the chords (10 and 11) secures the parts together. At the nodes (15) of the upper grid, the terminals (19) of the struts (16) are interposed between the superimposed upper grid chords (12 and 13) and secured by bolts (21).

  • Patent number: 5115828
Abstract: A frame structure which possesses portable readily assembled and disassembled standardized components for erection of a semi-permanent tent structure in a generally rectangular form and provided with at least one pair of opposing hip roof sections. The vertical legs, horizontal beams and the conventional cross and hip rafters are removably connected by hook-like ends mounted in open bracket receptors. The primary rafters are removably fixed via a tongue telescoped within a hollow end socket of the rafters to provide extra stability and strength. The components are standardized to allow use of the same components with or without extension members to erect frame structures having variable dimensions. At least one crown connector is included to conveniently removably connect the rafters to a common crown and adapted for use with at least two different hip roof designs.

  • Patent number: 5108025
Abstract: A ceramic-metal article including a ceramic rod, a metal rod, and a braze joining the ceramic and metal rods at a braze area of a coaxial bore in the metal rod. The bore gradually decreases in diameter, having an inward seat area sized for close sliding fit about the ceramic, a larger brazing area near the joint end, and a void area intermediate the braze and seat areas. The ceramic is seated without brazing in the bore seat area. The side wall between the brazing area and the metal outer surface is about 0.030-0.080 inch. The braze includes an inner braze layer, an outer braze layer, and an interlayer about 0.030-0.090 inch thick. A shoulder between the brazing and void areas supports the interlayer during bonding while preventing bonding between the void area and the ceramic member, leaving a void space between the void area and the ceramic member. A venting orifice extends generally radially through the metal member from the outer surface to the void space.
