The female connector has a U-shaped receiving volume, with a receiving slot in the front portion. The male connector has a pair of flanges connected by a rib. When assembled one flange is inserted in the receiving volume, and the rib is in the receiving slot. Two female connectors can be mated, by inverting one and inserting a part of its front portion into the receiving volume of the other female connector.

  • Patent number: 4360286
Abstract: The connector is intended for beams having longitudinal, undercut grooves, the coupling elements engaging in these grooves. It consists of coupling elements that can swing freely in the transverse plane of the groove; these coupling elements have hook heads, the head thickness of which, taken in total, is less than the width of the entry of the groove. They are pressed into contact with the two opposing walls of the constricted entry of the groove by an adjuster; the adjuster is installed in one coupling element in such a manner as to be adjustable by external action. The pressure exerted by the adjuster can be transmitted to the other coupling element through a spring. Equalized contact pressure on the walls of the groove is achieved by the coupling elements.

  • Patent number: 4343560
Abstract: A spigot assembly for attaching a knuckle of a vehicle to a relatively movable part of the vehicle by way of a bushing having a bore and ends adapted to be held within the knuckle. The major parts of the assembly include a spigot having a base arranged to be rigidly secured to the vehicle part and a tubular projection extending from the base. The projection includes an outer end defining a first annular surface facing axially outwardly of the projection. A tubular cap is provided having on its inner end a second annular surface and engageable in abutting relation with the first annular surface of the projection. A centering and aligning means is located at the inner end of the cap to ensure registry of the first and second annular surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4197906
Abstract: Apparatus for joining a sheet to a structural member angled therefrom which includes forming an indented portion in the sheet as well as a slot such that a clip having a tail section, a body section and a head section may be inserted such that the tail section extends through the slot and the head section extends beyond the end of the sheet such that the head section and the tail section are on one side of the sheet and the body section is on the same side of the sheet as the indented portion. The clip head has a screw opening such that a screw may be inserted through the member to which the sheet is to be joined into the clip head. Upon tightening the screw a support surface on the clip tail engages the sheet at the slot and the screw threads engage the interior surface of the indented portion of the sheet thereby securing the sheet to the screw and consequently the member through which the screw extends.

  • Patent number: 4156522
Abstract: There is disclosed herein a capital for use in joining a rail to an upright column in a building structure, such as a balustrading system, which capital includes a lower portion having a passage therein to receive in press-fitting engagement the upper end of the column, and an upper portion on opposite sides of which protrusions are provided which are engaged on their undersides by opposed inwardly directed flanges of the rail. The protrusions taper inwardly and upwardly such that the rail can be forced over the protrusions with the flanges being temporarily flexed outwardly to thereafter engage beneath the protrusions. The undersides of the protrusions are curved to allow the rail to adopt any desired angular orientation with respect to the column, while the protrusions are also tapered towards the sides of the capital to allow for some limited adjustment in the horizontal plane.

  • Patent number: 4142809
Abstract: A connector assembly includes a hollow rectangular tubular member having keyhole apertures therein with large rounded upper head portions and narrow rectangular neck portions. A cylindrical connector has an axially extending projection at one end with a square neck and circular head which are respectively matable with the neck and head portions of the keyhole aperture for non-rotatable mounting therein. The connector has a radial internally threaded bore for receiving a rod to support associated structures. The connector may be mounted in any of four positions so that the rod extends up, down or laterally. The connector has circumferential and longitudinal grooves to facilitate holding in telescoping relation thereover an associated hollow cylindrical sleeve, which may additionally be locked in place by a setscrew received through the sleeve and into the bore.

  • Patent number: 4090364
Abstract: A beam-type pile such as a double-T beam is secured to a sheet piling after driving a pile into the ground in a usually slanted position. The pile is secured to the sheet piling by welding a pull bar to the web of the pile so as to protrude from the head thereof. The protruding pull bar portion is partly inserted into a cutout of the sheet piling. This protruding pull bar portion is secured in the sheet piling by a support plate including a slot through which the pull bar portion is extended. The support plate is welded to the inside wall surface. The pull bar portion protruding into the sheet piling is further fastened by a reinforcing plate disposed upright relative to the protruding pull bar position and welded thereto and the support plate.

  • Patent number: 4062636
Abstract: The present invention comprises an inter-fitting, two-part securing means which holds a flanged end of an elongated cylindrical actuating cable guidance tube in its operative position on a support in a vehicle. The securing means comprises a pair of generally semi-cylindrical body parts which, when assembled, form a through bore for the cable, and guidance tube with opposed recesses in the bore which receive and hold the guidance tube flange. One of the pair of body parts has a flanged end and is inserted through a noncircular hole in the support with the flange clamped against the support. Substantially diametrically outwardly extending ribs on the other end of the one body part are slidingly received in complementary grooves on the other of the pair of body parts. Integral spring finger means locks the pair of body parts in assembled relation.

  • Patent number: 4050828
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of interlocking the rails of a railing, fence or the like with the ends of the hollow posts thereof. Also disclosed is the joint construction used with said method. The method and the joint construction make possible easy interlocking without the use of rivets, bolts and nuts, or welding and can be effectively applied to the assembling of tubular railings made from aluminum by extrusion molding. When the joint is to be provided between a post and a rail base which passes over or under one end of the post, a stud having a head is pushed through a hole provided in the rail base into the end of the hollow post and a self-tapping screw is threaded into a gap between the stud and the inner wall of the post to fix them. The shape of the stud head is made such that it does not obstruct the threading of the self-tapping screw.

  • Patent number: 4004301
Abstract: A removably mounted swimming pool safety rope anchoring device for a pool with a metal, wood or fiberglass wall and a vinyl liner includes a stem having an enlarged portion at one end, and threaded along its whole exterior; a nut which can be threaded on the smaller end; and an eye part having an internally threaded socket portion which threadedly engages the enlarged portion of the stem and an eye rigid with the socket portion. This is inserted through the wall during the installation of the pool with the nut on the outside and the stem extending through a hole in the pool wall. A lock washer and a sealing washer are arranged between the nut and the pool wall. A hole is cut in the liner to allow the enlarged portion to project through, and the portion of the liner around the enlarged portion is overlaid and clamped by the socket portion. This permits the eye part to be removed and the liner to be changed without requiring access to the nut on the outside of the wall.
