  • Patent number: 7743451
Abstract: Described are preferred sanitary cleaning devices that include a disposable cleaning head portion and a handle portion. The cleaning head is releasably connectable to the handle portion. The handle portion includes a pair of elongate rods laterally spaced relative to one another and capable of deflection toward one another. The rods present prongs that are selectively received within and removed from apertures provided in the cleaning head. To attach the cleaning head to the handle, the rods are deflected, for example by compressing a grip area, and the prongs are positioned adjacent the receiving apertures, and thereafter the rods are released. This causes the prongs to be received within the apertures, to connect the cleaning head to the handle. Preferred devices of the invention are advantageous in that the user need not touch the cleaning head or adjacent areas expected to contact materials from the toilet to achieve connection and removal of the head from the handle.

  • Patent number: 6213678
Abstract: A hanger apparatus assembled by joining connectors to elongate rods, which connectors define an open side running the entire length of the channel with a rib opposite of the opening for strength and rigidity of the connector. Four openings define oblique angle edges, preferably with a 45 degree angle, for clearance open to four slots that are in line with another forming two opposing groups which allow a flattened end of a rod to be inserted, lowered, and snapped in place. Inserting a rod into both groups creates a simple, economical, and reusable connection of the two rods. Four tabs protrude into the channel with a center line just above the top of the rod to be inserted allowing the rod to be held firmly in the connector and creating a barrier that restricts the rod from starting to moving to a position perpendicular to the connector which is how the rod is inserted and taken out.

  • Patent number: 5490662
Abstract: The invention is a kit of parts to be retrofitted to a type of garage-door spring that functions in extension and may break near its retention hook, which may be an integral hook formed by bending of the spring material itself. The kit of this invention improves safety by reducing the chance of the spring-retention hooks' breaking. The kit has two major parts which are easily assembled together and attached to an existing spring without the use of tools. A disk-shaped centering clement contacts the spring coils at least at three positions on its rim, thereby distributing stress over a significantly larger area than the conventional integral retention hooks. The disk has an aperture, a notch, and a flat. A hook element fits through the notch and aperture, and a dogleg portion of the hook element extends beyond the disk's rim contacting the spring's end to help prevent the spring from turning.

Abstract: Fittings are provided for use in terminating parallel yarn ropes containing one or more electrical conductors, and methods are disclosed for securing the fittings to the ropes to afford separation of the conductors from the rope and connection to electrical apparatus. One fitting has a frusto-conical body portion providing a tapered peripheral surface with an axial bore and a bail extending beyond the base of the body. The rope yarns are inserted into the bore at the narrow end of the fitting and divided into two pairs of bundles with each pair being splayed outward diametrically of the bore and returned along the outside of the fitting for wrapping helically in opposite directions for a predetermined distance about the periphery of the rope. The ends of the bundles are secured to the rope, so that when tension is applied between the bail and the rope, the wrapped bundles grip the outside of the rope to mount the fitting securely to the rope.
