Patent number: 6837646Abstract: A tensioning apparatus for operably applying forces to inner surfaces of a hollow body includes a bracing nut having a first receptacle portion and a bracing portion, an axially movable rod that is operably coupled to the bracing nut such that a first portion of the rod is selectively axially movable within the bracing nut, a wedge structure that is operably engaged with the rod for coaxial movement therewith, and a tensioning body that is operably and slidably engaged with the wedge structure. The tension body and the wedge structure have corresponding and facing sloped surfaces such that selectively axial motion of the rod correspondingly and coaxially moves the wedge structure, which coaxial movement of the wedge structure therefore progressively radially displaces the tensioning body to provide tensioning forces against respective inner surfaces of the hollow body.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2003Date of Patent: January 4, 2005Inventor: Patrick Minger

Patent number: 5637830Abstract: In a shielded connector, an opening into which a shielded wire is to be inserted is formed in a rear portion of a housing, a part of a metal shell disposed in the housing is formed as an exposed portion which is exposed on an inner periphery of the opening, a terminal is clamped to be connected to a conductor of a leading end of the shielded wire, and a contact which makes contact with the exposed portion is clamped to be connected to a braided shield portion on an outer periphery of an inner sheath. A projection which, when the terminal is fitted and fixed at a given position in the opening, interferes with the contact to block the contact from moving toward the terminal, is formed on an inner periphery of the opening.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 1995Date of Patent: June 10, 1997Assignee: Yazaki CorporationInventors: Shigemi Hashizawa, Hisaharu Katoh

Patent number: 5446241Abstract: A two member connector to twist connect two ductile wires, releasable coupling means is provided to couple inner ends of the members together, each member has a cavity means including a pair of transversely spaced wire chambers each sized to accept a wire to be joined, the cavity means of at least one member includes a central chamber disposed between the wire chambers of that member and sized to accept two wires when twist connected, a slot connects the central chamber with each of its associated wire chambers and the sides of the slots provide brake surface means; to form a twist connection the two wires are housed in the wire chambers of both members and the members are contra-rotated to bring torque applying and reaction shoulders of each cavity means into contact with the wires to force the wires together and twist connect them, in the formation of the twist connection the wires in the member with the central chamber are drawn into the central chamber from the wire chambers over the brake surface means wType: GrantFiled: March 29, 1993Date of Patent: August 29, 1995Inventors: James B. Patent number: 5308922Abstract: A fastening system comprises a housing having a closed end and an open end. A first mixable fastener component is disposed within the housing at the closed end and defines a first volume, the first volume being substantially devoid of gas. A rupturable skin overlie the first component proximate the open end for maintaining the first component within the housing.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1992Date of Patent: May 3, 1994Assignee: Reactive Industries, Inc.Inventors: John S. Patent number: 5267818Abstract: An arrangement for providing universal movement of a machine tool is provided in which there are parallelogram linkages, one of which has a link which maintains parallelism with a worktable and is movable in any direction in a plane. A machine tool is carried by this link to perform an operation on a workpiece on the worktable. Two linear actuators converge from pivotal mountings on the worktable to the link. Selective extension and retraction of the actuators causes appropriate planar movement of the machine tool. A limit switch arrangement is provided by marking the movement of a portion of the mechanism on a plate as the mechanism is extended to its limits, cutting out the plate along the line marked, and positioning the actuating arm of a limit switch in the opening. Movement to the limits of the mechanism's travel will trip the switch and interrupt power to the actuators.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1991Date of Patent: December 7, 1993Assignee: Optima Industries, Inc.Inventor: William F. Patent number: 4838726Abstract: A process and device for tying metal reinforcement and/or mesh structures wherein U-shaped clips having bent and generally diverging arms are placed at the crossings of the rod to be tied together and engage twice on each of the rods of the crossing, the arm ends being closed by being twisted until a portion of the ends ruptures, the twisting being performed by a substantially longitudinal tool having at the front jaws which in the open state close on the clip ends, turn and twist the same and finally break the ends leaving them twisted, the jaws returning to the same initial position.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1986Date of Patent: June 13, 1989Assignee: Simes-Senco, S.A.Inventor: Antonio Lucas Huerta

Patent number: 4834571Abstract: An improved connector having a looped wire retained in one piece of the connector and providing a second piece having a concentric bore and able to engage a free end of said looped wire to cause the wire to constrict upon rotation of the second piece relative to the first piece to bind wires inserted through the second piece into a receptacle of the first piece.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1988Date of Patent: May 30, 1989Inventor: Jonathan G. Patent number: 4140412Abstract: This method of covering a joint of two rope ends includes use of a joint cover constructed of plastic tubing, included heat shrinkable plastic tubing, with methods to form a conical wedge shaped cover. The joint cover functions to help provide a smooth movement of the joint around obstacles. Also included is the use of "selected area shrinkage.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1977Date of Patent: February 20, 1979Inventor: Louis O. Vitt

Patent number: 4107453Abstract: An electrical coupling cover where a first inner cover having first and second open ends is overlapped by a second outer cover also having first and second open ends. Two electrical wires having bare ends are inserted through the inner cover when in use and bent around onto the outer surface thereof where the second cover clamps the bare ends in place by sliding contact. After clamping, the covers are rotated in order to twist the bare ends together for electrical connection.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1976Date of Patent: August 15, 1978Assignee: Nitro NobelInventor: Berthold Erixon
