Abstract: A retaining wall comprised of stacked precast stretchers having stacking pads with oppositely disposed slots formed therein for the receipt of connectors. The connectors comprise plates interposed between the pads and pins secured to the plates for engagement with the slots. Anchor rods are secured to the plates for attachment to embedded anchors.
Abstract: A set of wooden members assembly comprises a plurality of elongated pillar members having a number of grooves provided on the peripheral surface thereof for receiving the tongues of spar members, each of the grooves being provided with a through hole therein for receiving a screw bolt; a plurality of first elongated spar members having a bushing provided therein separately; and a plurality of second elongated spar members each having a radial through hole provided at an end thereof. One may easily assemble these members to form a certain object by inserting a screw bolt from outside of the through hole of the pillar member through the radial through hole of the second spar member to engage with the bushing provided within the first spar member.
Abstract: An upright adjustable rail mounting assembly for adjustably attaching horizontally mounting rails to a pair of slotted uprights by use of an adjustable locking bracket. The rail flanges facilitate mounting of a container assembly provided with means for engagement with the rails. The bracket and rail mounting assembly permit fractional adjustment vertically, and the locking bracket is removable for compact shipping. An alternative locking bracket has a bend to prevent angular disorientation of the bracket with respect to the mounting rail.
Abstract: A probe-type thermostat is disclosed in which the probe is mounted for swiveling movement in a manner in which the thermostat calibration is not adversely affected. The probe includes a tube mounted on the thermostat base for swiveling movement about a first center and a rod connected to the thermostat operator or movable member for swiveling movement about a second center. The base and the movable member are each formed with spherical seats which are opened through lateral openings to an edge so that the probe assembly can be moved along the lateral openings to the assembled position.
Abstract: An assembly for use in a condition responsive mechanism. The assembly includes a housing part having aperture means therethrough and a control device rotatably assembled at least in part in the aperture means for selecting a set temperature of the condition responsive mechanism. The housing part has a pair of sections extending generally about at least a part of the aperture means and predeterminately spaced in off-set relation with respect to each other. The control device has a body portion formed of a generally resilient resin material and includes groove means extending thereabout for receiving in rotatable abutment the off-set sections. The groove means defines with the body portion at least one flange thereon with the flange being displaced in response to the rotatable abutment of the groove means and off-set sections so as to resile and exert a force acting to maintain the rotatable abutment between the groove means and the off-set sections.A method of assembly is also disclosed.
Abstract: In connection means comprising a hook projecting from one structure member and shaped for engagement with an elongated hole having a portion of downwardly tapered shape in another structure member, the hook is complemented by a boss which projects from the same face of the said one member, but spaced from the hook in the vertical direction, and which engages in a said hole in the other member. In a preferred embodiment, the boss is of a shape, for example a truncated pyramid with a trapezium base, engageable by its sides with the sides of the same hole with which the hook is engaged. The hook and boss are integral with the said one member, the boss being disposed closely above the hook from which it is separated by a transverse web. The sides of the boss are undercut. A spring-loaded locking device may be provided in conjunction with the boss.
Abstract: The invention relates to means for coupling a first rigid element to a second rigid element, the coupling means including a wheel having a central circular opening therein with a screw thread on the inner surface of the central opening and a rod member including a longitudinal rod having a screw thread on the outer surface thereof. The wheel screw thread and the rod screw thread are mating threads. The wheel is received in a transverse passage extending through the width of the first rigid element in a plane at right angles to the length of the first element and the rod is received in a longitudinal passage in the first element, the passage extending from one edge of the first element into the element and being in communication with the transverse passage.
Abstract: A releasable coupling of the type having interlocking elements wherein two structural components can be joined in interconnection to one another. The releasable coupling includes a structural member having a pair of opposed channels separated by a web. A pair of lugs is provided at one end of an end wall member for engagement with a slot in a receiving member. A recess is locked at one end of the slot for receiving the lugs when the structural member is engaged with the pair of channels.
