Patent number: 6260858Abstract: An improved insulated, heat shrink tool system and method of assembly, which utilizes an insulating sleeve within the internal opening of a heat shrink tool holder wherein the insulating sleeve has a thermal conductivity less than that of the tool holder. In use the tool holder, is heated by means of an induction heating system, or hot air. As the tool holder is heated it expands outwardly thereby enlarging or increasing the internal diameter of the holder. The internal section of the holder is lined with an insulating sleeve prepared from titanium or a titanium alloy having a thermal conductivity less than that of the holder. The insulating sleeve is brazed to the inner wall of the holder so that the expansion of the holder during heating will result in a simultaneous, and equal expansion of the inner diameter of the insulating sleeve. The shank of a cutting tool is than inserted within the insulating sleeve of the holder and the holder is allowed to cool.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 2000Date of Patent: July 17, 2001Assignee: Induction TechnologiesInventor: Victor DeLucia

Patent number: 4904108Abstract: A structural connection device is disclosed and is formed of a plurality of hub components having extending ear pairs for connecting with elongated struts or the like for constructing spatial structures. The hub components are positioned in stacked abutting relationship and connected into a unitary device via a single elongated rod connector disposed through and sealed within a large single axially aligned perforation extending centrally through each of the hub components. Adjacent hub components are rotated relative to each other prior to assembly to provide an angular relationship between the respective ear pairs of adjacent hub components. The elongated rod connector 16 (FIGS. 1-2), and 16a (FIG. 3) is fixed to the hub components by shrink fitting, force fitting or adhesively bonding. Other connection embodiments utilize a key-keyway arrangement (FIGS. 4-5a), a cross-pin arrangement (FIGS. 6-7a) and a star or gear shaped connector element (FIGS. 8-9).Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1988Date of Patent: February 27, 1990Inventor: Wendel R. Patent number: 4886125Abstract: An improved accurate lightweight manual tool to cut suburban lawn and garden weeds efficiently and with little time and effort expended. It is like a miniature hoe half a man's height in length with a very thin very narrow blade, in length four to five times its width (FIG. 5). The chipper's light weight is achieved with a very lightweight conduit handle of any section joined at right angles by a secret joint to a backing plate for the blade and weighted with billet to increase and change the power for weight. A thin shock absorber is bolted between plate and blade by.The secret joint uses a steel billet driven through the metal plate into the conduit handle thereby expanding the handle against the metal collar and plate which has a self-centering protrusion fitting into a recess in the collar. The permanent right angle secret locking joint uses totally prefinished components.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1987Date of Patent: December 12, 1989Inventor: Hugh M. Reilly

Patent number: 4886695Abstract: A ceramic-metal composite body is produced by fitting a protruding portion of a ceramic member into a concave portion of a metallic member. In this case, the protruding portion has a quantity of undulation in a plane including the axial line of the protruding portion of not more than 5 .mu.m.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1988Date of Patent: December 12, 1989Assignee: NGK Insulators, Ltd.Inventors: Takeyuki Mizuno, Koji Kato

Patent number: 4883925Abstract: This invention relates to a sealed solder connector assembly and method of use operable to interconnect adjacent conduit wire members having exposed wire sections extended from insulated cover sections. The sealed solder connector assembly includes (1) a main support member constructed of a flexible plastic tubing; (2) a wire anchor member constructed of a low temperature melting point solder material placed interiorly and centrally of the main support member; and (3) an interior anchor coat of a temperature controlled adhesive film anchored to an interior surface of the main support member. Application of heat to the main support member results in (1) initial securing of the wire anchor assembly centrally of the main support member; (2) anchoring and sealing the main support member about the conduit wire members; and (3) melting and fusing the wire anchor member to the wire sections of the wire members.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1988Date of Patent: November 28, 1989Inventor: Albert C. Patent number: 4875270Abstract: A method and apparatus for securing one or more parts, each of which is provided with an opening, to a hollow member. In the starting state, the inner diameter of the opening of the parts is greater than the outer diameter of the surface provided on the hollow member for securing the part. The parts are placed in the prescribed position on the hollow member prior to the securing operation. In order in a simple and economical manner to reliably secure the parts to the hollow member without the danger of overstressing the latter, and without the danger that the parts will loosen, a temperature difference is produced, prior to placing the parts on the hollow member, by heating the parts and/or by cooling the hollow member. Subsequently, each part is secured to the hollow member by widening the latter at least in the securing regions thereof, and by a subsequent shrink fitting of the parts onto the hollow member as a consequence of the temperature equalization that occurs.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 1989Date of Patent: October 24, 1989Assignee: Balcke-Durr AktiengesellschaftInventors: Herbert Krips, Miroslan Podhorsky

Patent number: 4858293Abstract: The invention relates to novel bearings and methods for making bearings. The method comprises dimensionally recovering at least one race or rolling or sliding element such that a rolling element is free to roll or slide yet contained within the race.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1986Date of Patent: August 22, 1989Assignee: Raychem CorporationInventor: Nachum Rosenzweig

Patent number: 4844647Abstract: In order to connect the case parts (10, 12) of several potentiometer planes, a heat-shrinkable sheath (36) is used. On the outer faces (18, 20) recesses are provided along the contact faces (14, 16), between which recesses a connecting bead (30) is formed. The bead has a knurled edge (34). A heat-shrinkable sheath (36) is tightly applied, after heating and shrinking, to the bead (30), thus connecting the case parts (10, 12) in an axial and angular manner.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1987Date of Patent: July 4, 1989Inventor: Klaus-Dieter Schulz

Patent number: 4820978Abstract: A rotation sensor for vehicle includes a drive shaft connected to a rotation shaft of a vehicle by a transmission member, a ring-shaped magnet member provided onto the drive shaft and a detector for detecting change of magnetic flux caused by rotations of the magnetic member, wherein rotation frequency or rotation speed can be measured by detecting the changes of the magnetic flux. The magnetic member is formed of a composition of heat resisting resin and magnetic materials, and the formed magnetic member is fixed to the drive shaft through a heat resistant elastic member. As a result, even if the rotation sensor is located in high temperature place, e.g. around an engine, there is no possibility that a crack in the magnet member will be caused since expansion or contraction in the magnetic member can be absorbed by the elastic member.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 1987Date of Patent: April 11, 1989Assignee: Yazaki CorporationInventor: Masaki Hirota

Patent number: 4813807Abstract: An extruded connector has a bifurcated edge with a generally C-shaped cross section for engaging an enlarged edge of an adjacent panel. When changing the temperature conditions surrounding the connector, the bifurcated edge contracts and clamps the enlarged edge of the panel. The structural frame member is fastened to the connector at an edge opposite the bifurcated edge for completing a strong rigid connection between the panel and the frame member.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 1987Date of Patent: March 21, 1989Assignee: Grumman Aerospace CorporationInventor: Albert R.
