The bolts can be removed and the flange rotated to different bolt holes thereby swinging the center of the propeller shaft around the center of the bolt holes to tighten the belt. An improved coupling is provided for connecting the drive pulley to the engine.

The thread begins a predetermined distance below the annular lip such that an expansion space is formed above the thread to provide a space into which the handle thread material may expand. Upon tightening the handle in the socket adapter with a predetermined amount of attachment torque, the handle material will expand into the expansion space and create an attachment between the handle and the socket requiring a release torque greater than the attachment torque to remove the handle.

The adapter section is symmetric with one half in and the other half projecting out of a recess. When two butt ends of two solid webs are overlain, the respective recesses overlie and an adapter section is disposed in the overlaying recesses. The adapter section and the recesses both extend transversely of the direction between the flanges and fully across the solid web. The abutting solid webs of two beams define a single beam assembly. Respective brackets behind each of the solid webs are clamped together for pushing the solid webs together. In an array of a plurality of the beam assemblies, the brackets may extend across the parallel solid webs of a number of the beam assemblies.

    Abstract: To reduce the axial length of the dynamo electric machine--remote rotating apparatus combination, in which the remote rotating apparatus, typically, is a gas turbine, the operating shaft of the remote apparatus is formed with a conical recess, and a claw-type rotor, rotating between a fixed field structure and a fixed armature structure is formed with a hub having a conical projection fitting into the conical recess and no other bearing. The shaft, thus, can be terminated flush with the remote apparatus housing structure, which can be formed with additional locating elements, such as a flange, accurately concentric with the center of the shaft for positioning of the dynamo electric machine against the remote apparatus in accurately aligned position.

    Abstract: An adaptor for use in driving a pipe into the ground by a ground piercing tool, which adaptor is arranged to be driven by the piercing tool. The adaptor consists of a three piece cylindrical unit held together by two garter springs. A tapered conical bore, formed in the adaptor, has a slope comparable with the slope formed on the forward end of a ground piercing tool used therewith. A portion of the adaptor is arranged to enter the end region of a pipe being worked upon, and a circumferential shoulder is formed on the adaptor, for engagement with the end of the pipe. Impact action upon the piercing tool not only wedges the adaptor into tight engagement with the inner region of the pipe, but also results in driving action upon the pipe by reason of the circumferential shoulder being in engagement with the pipe end.

    Abstract: The present invention is a universal chuck adaptor which is used in combination with a yankee screwdriver in order to mechanically couple a drill chuck to the yankee screwdriver which includes a handle. The universal chuck adaptor includes an integral member which has a cylindrical portion at its center, a right-handed, externally threaded cylindrical portion at one end with a left-handed, internally threaded bore and a truncated cylindrical portion with a notch. The truncated cylindrical portion is adapted to be slideably received within the release mechanism and secured thereby. The drill chuck is threadedly coupled to the right-handed, externally threaded cylindrical portion. A left-handed threaded screw securely coupled the drill chuck to the universal chuck adaptor through the left-handed, internally threaded bore.

    Abstract: The sliding support connection of the inner rotor to the rotating outer rotor and stub shaft of the generator power train is closed by a flexible diaphragm which has protruding axially therefrom a plurality of integrally attached fingers. These fingers, at an outside radial surface, bear into a complementary cylindrical cavity in the end of the stub shaft having female spline receiving concavities. The fingers on their inside dimension define a frustoconical surface which bears against a spring loaded frustoconical mandrel, preferably loaded by a Belleville spring. During thermal axial excursion incident to cool down, the fingers by sliding into and out of the spline concavities in the stub shaft accommodate relative axial movement of the inner rotor relative to the outer rotor. During on-line operation of the rotor, the fingers maintain a positive and nonsliding fit with the stub shaft so that by positive outward pressure at the fingers, slip and fretting corrosion of the fingers and stub shaft is prevented.
