Laterally Inserted Section Patents (Class 403/294)
  • Patent number: 5383345
Abstract: In order to increase the value of a key, in particular a flat key, e.g. a car key, the head of the key is manufactured of noble metal and releasably connected to the shaft 1 of the key. For connecting the shaft 1 to the head 2 a snap-locking mechanism is employed, which is brought about by pins 8 adapted to be inserted through holes of the head 2 and the shaft 1 and a clamping plate 6 which is insertable into the head 2. The technical effect of the key, which is adapted to be assembled, resides in the fact that when the vehicle is changed the head may be interchanged for a key of a different vehicle type or a different lock. It is also possible for the noble metal to be reused for other purposes.

  • Patent number: 5377732
Abstract: A technique is provided for joining wood members. A plurality of slits are formed on the end portions of wood pieces desired to be joined, and the end portions are abutted with corresponding slits in alignment to form a common surface. Each of the abutted wood end portions is fixed by temporary fixing means to a desired joining state. Thereafter, an adhesive agent is applied into the interior surfaces of the slits. Connecting plates, e.g., made of a reinforced plastic material coated with the adhesive agent, are inserted into the aligned slits. The adhesive agent is then hardened.

  • Patent number: 4502808
Abstract: This invention relates to the formation of a resilient retention rod or pin that inserts intermediate a pair of liner segments of a tumbling or casting shake-out unit, and which rod is formed having a series of inherent angular bends provided along its length, and being constructed of resilient material, so that as the rod is forcefully inserted in place for retaining a pair of adjacent liner segments together, the tendency of the resilient rod to achieve its steady state angularly bent condition has a tendency to continuously force a pressure against adjacent segments to assure their tightness in interfitting together for forming the liner or cylinder for a casting shake-out unit or the like.

  • Patent number: 4479575
Abstract: Connection means for connecting two components such as conveyor channel sections or guide sections includes an elongate connector. The connector is insertible into laterally-open recesses formed in coupling elements attached to the two components. The laterally-open recesses define an elongate aperture which is slightly longer than the connector so that the connector is received within the aperture with a predetermined amount of axial play. A retaining device prevents axial movement of the connector within the aperture by filling up the space available for said predetermined amount of axial play. The retaining device comprises a C-shaped resilient member and a wedge-shaped member. The resilient member is made of corrosion-resistant, resiliently-deformable plastics material, and the wedge-shaped member is made of metal. The wedge-shaped member can be driven into the resilient member to expand the resilient member against the walls of said space, thereby fixing the retaining device in position.

  • Patent number: 4457117
Abstract: A modular room divider system has plural upright juxtaposed panels having cylindrical anchor receiving apertures disposed about upright axes in the panels top and bottom surfaces. A coupling assembly has a pair of spaced apart anchors mating with the anchor apertures. Threaded portions having opposingly directed right and left hand threads extend inwardly from the anchors and are centrally engaged by an internally threaded sleeve having adjacent right and left hand threaded portions. The sleeve has a square prismoidal exterior surface and is traverseable by a notched wheel having a mating central aperture. A channel extends from the anchor apertures to the edge of each channel. In use, two panels are assembled by placing them in juxtaposition. The coupling assembly is placed in alignment over the panels, the anchors being lowered into the anchor apertures and the threaded portions over corresponding channels.

Abstract: The invention provides a reliable connection between chutes of a heavy-duty chain-and-flight conveyor with considerable side loading. The connecting member is a shaped link, the shouldered end portions of which are coupled with the walls of the chutes to be connected with suitable yokes is characterized in that the inner flanged walls 13 and 14 of the catch 8 and securing end portion 9 of the connecting member 1, as well as the walls 15 and 16 of the yokes 2 and 3 co-operating with the latter are inclined relative to the plane 17 of the partition of the chutes 6 and 7 and convergent toward this partition plane. The catch 8 is mounted in a through hole 10 of the catch yoke 2, the strongly inclined wall 11 of the said hole 10 being so situated that it enables the catch to be introduced only in a case when the connecting member 1 has been inclined relative to the conveyor axis.

  • Patent number: 4290371
Abstract: A table that may be readily assembled or disassembled is formed by a plurality of pairs of legs which are joined to each other by elongated locking strips received in longitudinally extending channels formed in the legs and opening at throat portions into mutually engaging mitered surface portions of the legs. The throat portions of the channels are of a reduced dimension, and the locking strips are provided with resilient deformable tabs received in the channels to prevent separation of the legs of each pair. The leg pairs are interconnected by horizontally extending struts which are fixed to two legs of each adjacent pair of legs. The table top rests on the legs and has recessed depending portions received within the space enclosed by the legs and struts to prevent transverse movement of the table top while at the same time preventing the legs of each pair from moving about their locking strips.

  • Patent number: 4275972
Abstract: A mitre joint for picture frames and the like, wherein abutting portions of two members have pockets milled therein that are spaced a predetermined distance inwardly from their abutting surfaces. In addition, channels connect the pockets with the abutting surfaces. A foreshortenable fastener comprising a four sided hollow body, having front, back, top and bottom sides, is positioned in the adjacent channels, with the front and back sides positioned in the pockets. The front and back sides are wider than the top and bottom sides, which extend through the channels, and a screw extends through a hole in the top side into threaded engagement with the bottom side to bow the bottom side inwardly when the screw is tightened. This foreshortens the fastener and pulls the mitre joint together.
