  • Patent number: 8454260
Abstract: A pop-pin and a method for using the pop-pin with a weight-training machine to perform mixed-weight sets of exercise are disclosed. A pop-pin having a spring loaded into an unstable equilibrium position can be inserted into a weight stack to select a weight and vertical guide bar while another conventional pin is inserted into the same weight stack and the vertical guide bar at a position above the pop-pin. A user can then operate the weight-training machine, at which point the spring on the pop-pin is dislodged from the unstable equilibrium position and presses on the weight plate into which it is inserted. When the weight stack is lowered, thus reducing the load of weight on the pop-pin, the force of the spring pressing against the weight plate ejects the pop-pin from the weight plate. At this point, the user can continue the exercise with the smaller stack.

Abstract: A bottom mount pin retainer is disclosed for retaining a mounting pin detachably mounting a first member of a ground engaging tool to a second member thereof. The pin retainer utilizes a retainer assemblage that is adapted to relieve a snap-ring employed for retaining the pin from high axial loads in an upward direction while preventing axial movement of the pin in a downward direction. A non-load bearing member used has sufficient load bearing capacity to restrain the upward movement of the snap-ring during the insertion of the pin into the pin openings in order to seat the snap-ring in its snap-ring groove in the pin.

Abstract: A hoist ring assembly for transporting loads, including an anchor bushing that is threaded into the load and forms the pivot for a releasable swivel hanger assembly with a shackle connectable to an overhead hoist. The swivel hanger is quickly attachable to and detachable from the anchor bushing to expedite load movement. The hanger swivels on the anchor bushing in a side-pull action and has a key hole slot that hangs the anchor bushing during use and permits the hanger to be rapidly removed from the anchor bushing when the hoist is slack. A latch lever holds the hanger in its attached position on the anchor bushing when unloaded and is quickly flipped out of the way for swivel hanger removal.

  • Patent number: 6032390
Abstract: In an excavation bucket, the nose of an adapter has two surfaces to take the horizontal loads and four surfaces to take the vertical loads. A pin holds and locks a tooth to the adapter. Projections on the pin engage sloping surfaces of the nose. A recess placed ahead of the nose of the adapter will become visible as the tooth erodes due to wear. A recess at the nose of the adapter indicates that the tooth has worn too much and, unless the tooth is replaced, will commence to cause wear of the adapter and adjacent parts. To attach the adapter to the lip of the excavation bucket, wedge members are joined together near one end thereof to form a wedge-shaped block insertable into a wedge-shaped space formed by a C-clamp surface and a slot in the lip. The block is forced into the space, and spring biased teeth carried by the lock box progressively enter and leave the recesses in the outer surface of the C-clamp. When the C-clamp is tight enough in the gap, the installation of the lock box is complete.

Abstract: In the front head (11) of a machine hammer (10), transversely disposed wedges (18) are adapted to lock the working tool (12) so that the working tool (12) is axially movable by form-restricted cooperation with recesses (16) on the working tool (12). Each wedge (18) is locked in the front head (11) by a key (20), which extends across the wedge (18) into engagement with a transverse bore (21) therein. The key (20) has a releasable locking device including a locking element affixed in the front head (11) and formed by a polyurethane block (24). The block (24) is provided with a through bore (27) and has elastically form-recovering material properties. When, for purposes of locking the key (20), the key (20) is pressed through the bore of the block (24), the block (24) is caused to expand resiliently into an annular groove (22) on the key (20), thereby locking the key (20) in the front head (11) and providing its wedge (18) locking function.

  • Patent number: 5417518
Abstract: An improved keeper pin mount and method for releasably locking an excavation tooth to an adaptor of an excavation bucket. The keeper pin has a wedge block and a wedge. The wedge block has a shear pin and a single replaceable tooth. The wedge has a series of teeth that progressively engage the single tooth of the wedge block. The single tooth has a spring steel projection bonded to a rubber block. This block is removably received in a recess in the wedge block. The rubber block bears against the adjacent inner surface of the recess of the wedge block. The wedge block is first put into place in the hole provided for the keeper pin; then the wedge is inserted in the hole, and the teeth progressively move past the single tooth of the wedge block. The resilience of the rubber block to which the single tooth is bonded allows the wedge block to be driven past the teeth of the wedge until the keeper pin is tightly in place. This causes the spring tooth of the wedge block to engage one of the teeth of the wedge.

Abstract: A mixer impeller, which is adapted to mix and blend liquids and liquid suspensions in industrial and commmercial applications and is subject to forces which tend to work the impeller loose from attachment with its driving shaft, is secured to the shaft by collars (locking rings) which are threaded on the ends of hubs from which the blades of the impeller extend. In order to secure the attachment of the collars to the hub, a locking key is inserted between the collar and the shaft. The inner periphery of the collars are tapered outwardly away from the shaft. The neck of the locking key has portions which are deflected against these tapered inner peripheries when a pin is inserted through the neck of the locking key. A ramp on the collar mates with a ramp on the key to prevent reverse rotation (working loose) of the collar. The impeller is restrained against axial movement by the collar and against rotational movement by being keyed to the shaft and restricted by the ramp on the collar.
